Errors in Manhaj Occur Due to Underlying Errors in Aqidah

The Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen replied to a question regarding aqidah (creed) and manhaj (methodology) and whether the Salaf used to distinguish between them:

Manhaj – may Allaah bless you – is built upon the aqidah, so whoever’s aqidah is sound, then his manhaj will be sound without doubt, because the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wasallam), when he mentioned the splittign of the Ummah into seventy-three sects, all of them in the Fire except for one, they (the Companions) said, “Which one is it O Messenger of Allaah?”, and he replied:

Whoever is upon the like of I and my Companions are upon.

Hating Yourself For The Sake of Allah

Ibn al-Qayyim said:

"And hating yourself for the sake of Allah is from the characteristics of the truthful, and in a single second, it brings the slave close to Allah many times more than any action or deed would."

Later in the same chapter of 'Ighathat al-Lahfan,' he related from al-Jariri:
"I was told of a man from the Children of Isra'il who had a need that he wanted fulfilled by Allah. So, he engaged in constant worship and then asked Allah for his need. When he did not see that his need was fulfilled, he spent the night blaming himself, saying:

Belittling Women with the Hadeeth: "Women are Deficient in Intellect and Deen"

Shaykh Abdul-Azeez ibn Baaz
Reference: Majmoo’ Fatawaa Wa Maqalaat Mutanawi’ah. Vol. 3/292
Translator: Shadeed Muhammad, Abu Az-Zubayr

We often hear the noble Hadeeth "Women are deficient in their intelligence and in their Deen” and some men use this Hadeeth as a form of

belittlement towards the women. We desire from you O noble shaykh, clarification of the meaning of this Hadeeth?

The meaning of the Hadeeth of the Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam):

“I have never seen anyone with a deficiency of ‘Aql (intellect) and Deen (religion) who are more overpowering to men than one of you [women].”

So it was said:

Does this ruling also apply to one who listens to the Surah being recited from an audio tape?

Translated by our brother
Mustafa George from www.sahab.net

Question:
There is a hadith wherin it is mentioned that if a person recites Surah Al Baqarah in the home, the shaytan will not be able to enter the home. Does this ruling also apply to one who listens to the Surah being recited from an audio tape?

Answer:
No, the recitation from an audio recording does not benefit (with regards to protection). This is because it can not be said that the person has (in fact) read the Quran, but rather it is said that he listened to a previous recording. Similarly, if we were to record an athan, and at the time of prayer we played the recorded athan, this would not be accepted.

Is Calling Oneself a Salafi is a Blameworthy ‘Tazkiyah’ of Oneself

And this doubt has been answered by our Mashaayikh: Allaamah, ‘Abdul-‘Azeez Ibn Baz – the [former] mufti of Saudi Arabia was asked: What do you say about the one who calls himself ‘Salafi’ or ‘Athari’? Is this is a tazkiyah (purification) of his own self? So he replied – may Allaah have mercy upon him – “When he is being truthful [in his claim] that he is Salafi or Athari then there is not harm in that, [this is] similar to what the Salaf used to say, ‘So and so is a Salafi’, ‘So and so is Athari’. This is a tazkiyah (commendation) which is necessary, a tazkiyah that is obligatory.” (Cassette: Haqq ul-Muslim 16/1/1413 Ta’if)

Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan was asked “Is the one who gives himself the title of ‘as-Salafi’ considered to have set up a ‘hizb’?”. To which he replied,  “There is no harm in labelling oneself with Salafiyyah when it is in truth. However, if it is merely a claim then it is not permissible to label oneself with Salafiyyah, whilst one is upon a manhaj other than that of the Salaf.” (Al-Ajwibah al-Mufidah p.16)

A house with out Dates

it was collected by Muslim in his Saheeh (#2046) and the authors of the Sunan (except an-Nasaa'ee) from the narration of 'Aa'ishah, who relayed that the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhe wa sallam) said:

يا عائشة بيت لا تمر فيه جياع أهله
"O 'Aa'ishah! A house without dates (shall have) hungry occupants."

Some scholars, like at-Tirmithee, understood it to establish the general recommended nature of dates and their superiority over other foods.

Other scholars, like Ibn al-'Arabee (perhaps the first explainer of Jaami' at-Tirmithee), understood it to be restricted to lands where dates are easily available and they are a common staple food. According to this understanding, lands where dates are not a staple food, this concept would apply to their specific staple foods, as a factual description of the people of that place.

An Advice And A Reminder For All Those Who Speak In The Name Of Salafiyyah

Shaykh Rabee' bin Haadee al Madkhali

All praise is for Allaah and may the peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allaah, his family and his companions and whomsoever follows his guidance. Then to proceed:

Then this is an advice and a reminder for all those who speak in the name of as-Salafiyyah, but when the Imtihaan (test) comes and when spears and arrows are directed at its liver by Ahlul-Makr (the people of vile deception), the Ahlul-Fitan (the people of trials and tribulations) and the troublemakers, we do not find them being from its army nor from those who fight for it but rather we find from them oddity and strangeness.
Indeed there has appeared from those who claim as-Salafiyyah - who wait in ambush of it and its people - stances and actions which are in opposition to as-Salafiyyah, its Manhaj and its foundational principles which cause the hair upon the head to turn white (with grief).
From those positions and stances:

1) - Defence of the People of Major Innovations from al-Hulool, Wahdatul-Wujood (the Unity of Existence), Wahdtul-Adyaan (the Unification of Religions) , Ukhuwwatul-Adyaan (the Brotherhood of all religions), Masaawatul-Adyaan (the equality of all religions) as well as many forms of Shirk and superstitions. And bearing witness for them that they are indeed from Ahlus-Sunnah, rather the affair has reached such that some of their heads commend the haughty insolent despotic elders of the Raafidah and Soofees, and describe them with statements such as 'indeed they are trustworthy scholars' and praise their methodologies (Madhaahib). Moreover, upon all of that his ignorant followers still support him.

From the Benefits of Winter

It is reported from Abû Hurayrah – Allâh be pleased with him – that he said:

Shall I not point you to comfortable proceeds? People responded, “And what is that o Abû Hurayrah?” He replied, “Fasting in winter.”

The Arabs used to refer to matters which were relatively easy to gain as being cool. In this narration, the relative ease of fasting in winter and its consequent reward is likened to acquiring war proceeds without the heat of violence.

Those Most Harmful To Knowledge And It's People

There is nothing more harmful to the branches of knowledge and its people than those who enter themselves into it and they are not from its people. They are ignorant and yet they think they have knowledge, they cause corruption whilst thinking they are correcting the affairs.

Listening on deviated people

Imaam Muqbil [rahimahullaah] was asked: Is it permissible for us to listen to the tapes, to read the books or to listen to the previous lectures of those who were considered to be upon the correct Manhaj then they deviated from it?

A: I do not advise to read their books nor listen to their tapes, I am astonished of the immense statement of shaykul Islaam Bin Taymiyah, may Allaah have mercy upon him, when he said "Verily if Allaah was not to create Al Bukaari and Muslim his Deen would have not been lost (meaning it will be preserved).
Indeed Allaah,Subahana,The Most High has preserved the Deen. Allaah, The Most High said:
{إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ}
"We have sent down the Dhikr and surely we will guard it (from corruption)" [15.9] So I advise that one should stay away from their books, their tapes and from attending their lectures... - Tuhfatul Mujeeb

Kissing The Head If They Do Not Pray

Questioner: Is it permissible to kiss the head of a parent if he (or she) only pray sometimes or do not pray at all?

Shaykh Saalih ibn Fawzaan al-Fawzaan: This is not permissible because this (kissing the head) is from (showing) love (respect), kissing him is from love (respect). So it is not permissible to kiss him. However this does not prevent you from treating him good, (meaning) treating him good with regards to worldly affairs. As for manifesting love (respect) like kissing the head or other than it, it is not permissible. Na’am.

Advice for My Beloved Sisters in Islaam Regarding Marriage.

Taken from the book “20 PIECES OF ADVICE to my sister before MARRIAGE”

By the noble Scholar Badr bin Ali Al-Utaybee

Ibn Hibban narrated in his work Nazahti Al-Fadlaa the advice of Al-Khattaab bin Mu’laa Al-Makhzoomee to his son. At the end of his words he mentioned the following: “Know that women vary more than the fingers of your hand. So be cautious in dealing with them.”

Every Evil Women will inevitably harm you:

THE FIRST TYPE:

* The woman who is amazed with herself and belittles her husband (27).
* If he honors her she sees it not except as a result of her virtue over him (28).
* She shows no gratitude for his courtesy. In her eyes he always falls short.
* She lashes her tongue out at him like a sharp sword.
* Her imprudence has removed the cover of shyness from her face: she is not shy from exposing her faults even when in front of the neighbors (29).
* She is like a growling dog with rabies, barking and biting.
* Her husband’s face is sad (30), and his honor is violated with the people.
* She overburdens him with her bad etiquette and does not tend to his worldly or religious affairs.
* Nor does she uphold her duties towards him, in spite of his companionship and the many children they may share;
* she doesn’t recognize any good that he does.

combining prayers for the resident

source: fataawa jeddah - rulings (from) jeddah - tape no. 13
~

Question #5: "Is it allowed for the resident to combine between two prayers without (the presence of) rain?"

Shaykh al-Albaani (rahimahullaah) answers:

"Imaam Muslim brought out in his Saheeh, the hadeeth on the authority of Ibn Abbaas who said: The Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam) combined (prayers) in Madinah between Dhuhr and Asr, and between Maghrib and Ishaa, without (being in a state of) traveling or (the presence of) rain. They said, What did he [sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam] intend by that O Abu l-Abbaas[1] {the kunya of Abdullaah bin Abbaas}? He said, He [sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam] wanted to not put his ummah into difficulties.[2]

So the apparent meaning of the hadeeth is that it is permissible to combine between two prayers in the state of residence and without the excuse of rain, because rain is an Islamically legislated excuse that allows combining between two prayers. And here Ibn Abbaas says that the Prophet (sallAllaahu ýalayhi wa aalihi wa sallam) combined as a resident and combined without the excuse of rain. And he confirmed that when the previous question was addressed to him: Why did he [sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam] do that? (Ibn Abbaas) said, He [sallAllaahu ýalayhi wa sallam] wanted to not put his ummah into difficulties. This is the hadeeth and it is in Saheeh Muslim but not al-Bukhaari. There is the like of this hadeeth in al-Bukhaari, (mentioning that) he [sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam] combined between the prayers in Madinah as eight (rakah),[3] but there isn't this detail that Imaam Muslim mentioned or narrated from Ibn Abbaas, in which there is this important point that is the answer to this question, namely his saying (radi Allaahu anhu): He [sallAllaahu 'alayhi wa sallam] wanted to not put his ummah into difficulties.
