Salafus-Saaliheen سلف صالحين

The Noble Shaykh al-Allaamah Zayd al-Madkhalee (may Allaah preserve him stated):

"Indeed the caller to Allaah is considered a doctor who specializes in treating three well known dangerous abstract sicknesses.

1. The sickness of ignorance which Allaah has warned the seal of the Messengers Muhammad (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) as well as His nation from who follow Him (the Prophet) in that. Allaah has said:

"Therefore do not be from the ignorant people."
(al-An'aam: 35)



Allaah has blamed the people of ignorance and has given the most evil examples for them in numerous places from the clear verses (of the Qur'aan). From them is His statement:

"Whoever is blind in this (world) then he will be blind in the hereafter and the most astray from the path."
(al-Israa: 72)

Allaah has also stated:

"Shall he then who knows that what has been revealed to you is the truth from your Lord be like him who is blind? But it is only men of understanding that pay heed."
(ar-R'ad: 19)

In these two verses there is a clear evidence that the matter of ignorance is a dangerous sickness. It also is a reason for the wretchedness of the ignorant people in the life of this world and in the hereafter. There has come in one of the narrations:

"Be a scholar or one who learns or one who listens or one who loves (the knowledge and its people). Do not be the fifth (type of person) therefore become destroyed."

Indeed this has indicated that fleeing from the knowledge, not loving the its people and choosing ignorance over it is indeed the true destruction.

The doctor for this sickness, he is the caller to Allaah, the one who Allaah has favored with the inheritance of the Messengers and the Prophets. Indeed it is the beneficial knowledge which produces righteous actions.

The second of these sicknesses is the sickness of doubt. The third of these sicknesses is the sickness of desires.

The first is treated with the teaching (of Islaam) and the clarification in order that the certainty can take the place of the doubts.

The second is treated with the legislated patience. Therefore the patience is repelling the evil desires and corrupt wants.

The doctor of these two sicknesses is also is the caller to Allaah upon insight. This doctor who Allaah has given the wisdom in treating that which has preceded from the different types of sicknesses which have been written, he at the same time is a soldier moving forward in the realm of striving in the path of Allaah, according to that which the word striving carries of meaning. He strives against five category of enemies and they are:

1. The soul that commands with evil

2. The Shaytaan (Devil) the enemy of mankind

3. The hypocrites

4. The open/apparent disbelievers

5. The wrong doers from the people of innovation and major sins

You see him (i.e. the caller to Allaah) has indeed prepared for each category the proper preparations according to that which Allaah has given him from knowledge based proofs, wisdom in propagation, scale of judgment based upon the scale of the Prophetic call, restrictions based upon the correct legislated restrictions and the regulations which have been extracted from the jurisprudence principles."
