Women Created from Crooked Part of Rib

"Whoever believes in Allaah and the Last Day should not hurt (trouble) his neighbor. And I advise you to take care of the women, for they are created from a rib and the most crooked portion of the rib is its upper part; if you try to straighten it, it will break, and if you leave it, it will remain crooked, so I urge you to take care of the women." Salaat – The Prayer

Question 1
Sheikh ‘Ubayd was asked concerning a person who is not able to attend the Friday prayers since the masjid is too far and he would not be able to make it to the masjid and back to work, can he establish the Friday prayer at his workplace with a group of fellow Muslims?
Answer:
If the situation is as is mentioned then is it allowed to do that.

Question 2
What is upon us in regards to the Amir/Leader of the Masjid? What if the Imam falls into innovation?
Answer:
It is obligatory to know that there isn’t actually something called an Amir of the Masjid or community. In a non-Muslim country, whoever builds the Masjid, they are the ones who take care of the Masjid; they appoint an Imaam, a Mu’adhin, care taker. They take care of the affairs of expenses etc.

They are only responsible for the Imaam and Muaadhin and don’t have authority over the people. If the Imaam falls into innovation, he is to be advised. You can pray in his Masjid as long as he is upon Sunnah and his innovation is not disbelief or shirk.

A forgotten Sunnah >> al Qisd al Hindi/Bahri

Fath al Baaree (Volume 12)
Al Haafidh Ibn Hajar Al 'Asqalaanee

Abu Bakr ibn al ‘Arabee stated:

‘Qist (Costus) is of two types: Hindee (Indian) - which is black, and Bahree which is white. Al Qist al Hindee is hotter than al Bahree.”
Ummu Qays bint Mihsan said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah - صلى الله عليه وسلم - say:

“It is upon you to use ‘Al ‘Uood al Hindee’ [i.e. Qist/Costus], for indeed it contains seven cures; it is inhaled through the nostrils to relive throat aches/tonsillitis and placed in the sides of the mouth for the relief of Dhaat al Janb [1]”[Collected by Bukhaaree and Muslim.]

In another narration that will be explained after two chapters:

“I approached the Prophet - صلى الله عليه وسلم - with a son of mine while pressing his tonsils due to tonsillitis, so he said: “You should use al Qist al Hindee.” [Collected by Bukharee and Muslim.]

Al Imaam Ahmad and the authors of the Sunnan collected a Hadeeth on the authority of Jaabir that the Messenger of Allaah - صلى الله عليه وسلم – said:

“If a child is inflicted with tonsillitis or a headache, then let his mother take al Qist al Hindee, scrub it with water and let him inhale it as droplets through his nostrils.”

The Weakness of the Ahaadeeth Mentioning Wiping the Face with the Hands After Du`aa' (Supplication)

From Irwaa' al-Ghaleel (2/178-182) by Shaykh al-Albaani

1) "The Prophet (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam), when he raised his hands in du`aa', he would not put them down until he had wiped his face with them."

Da`eef (Weak). Transmitted by Tirmidhi (2/244) & Ibn `Asaakir (7/12/2) via: Hammaad ibn `Isa al-Juhani from Hanzalah ibn Abi Sufyaan al-Jamhi from Saalim ibn `Abdullaah from his father from `Umar ibn al-Khattaab, who said: ...

Tirmidhi said after it, "This is a saheeh ghareeb hadeeth. We only know it as a hadeeth of Hammaad ibn `Esa, for he is alone in reporting it; he has few ahaadeeth, but the people have reported from him."

However, this reporter is weak, as in Taqreeb of Ibn Hajr, who says about him in Tahdheeb:

Ibn Ma`een said, "A good shaikh"1Abu Haatim said, "Weak in Hadeeth"; Abu Daawood said, "Weak, he reports munkar ahaadeeth"; Haakim and Naqqaash said, "He reports fabricated ahaadeeth from Ibn Juraij and Ja`far as-Saadiq." He is declared to be weak by Daaraqutni. Ibn Hibbaan said, "He reports things which are the wrong way round on the authority of Ibn Juraij and `Abdul `Azeez ibn `Umar ibn `Abdul `Azeez, such that it seems to those whose field this is that it is deliberate; it is not permissible to use him as proof." Ibn Maakoolaa said, "They declare his ahaadeeth to be weak."

How did the Prophet’s Parents choose his name?

By : Ash-Shaykh, Al-Imam Muhammad Nasirud Deen Al-Albani

(May Allah rest him Jannah)

Questioner: In relation to choosing the name Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wa salim), did this happen by way of revelation or a vision. And how do we join between the outward contradicting texts in this issue?

Al-Albani : Join what? What is the apparent contradiction, so we can join the two meanings ?

Questioner: Ok, there is one thing we need to be sure of first then we can understand both texts clearly. That is , did the name Muhammad come to his mother by way of a vision? Then She said, “ I will name this child Muhammad?

Al-Albani: That’s superstition, that’s superstition.

Questioner: This idea is superstition?

Al-Albani: Yes, that’s right.

Questioner: There is no text that says this?

Al-Albani: No

Ruling on wiping the face and body with the hands after making du’aa and kissing the eyes...

It is not prescribed to wipe the face after making du’aa’. There are many ahaadeeth which describe how the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) called upon his Lord in du’aa’, and there is no proven report that he used to wip...e his face after making du’aa’.

Those who say that the face should be wiped quoted some ahaadeeth as evidence, but upon further examination they are not saheeh, and do not support one another.

As for the views of the scholars who say that it is not allowed to wipe the face, they include the following:

1 – Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal said: It is not known that anyone used to wipe his face after making du’aa’ except al-Hasan.

Al-‘Ilal al-Mutanaahiyah, 2/840, 841

2 – Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah said: With regard to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) raising his hands when saying du’aa’, there are many saheeh ahaadeeth concerning this, but as for his wiping his face with his hands, there are only one or two hadeeths concerning that, and they cannot be taken as evidence.

Leave off the websites !!!

his audio is related to a post the difference between a student of knowledge and a student of the Internet. It's a phone conversation between Shaykh UIbaid Al-Jabiree and a Student of the Net from Algeria.

At the end of the conversation the shaykh asked the student to define Tahaara, Linguistically and Islamically. He couldn't do it. However, he wasted the Shaykh's time asking about an issue that was lights years above his head. In fact he didn't know the manners of asking a question. The shaykh advised him to avoid the websites that were dealing with topics that didn't concern him.

For Those Undergoing Difficulties

Regarding His salAllaahu ‘alayhi wasallaam Guidance in Treating Afflictions

And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sâbirin (the patient ones, etc.). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: “Truly! To Allâh we belong and truly, to Him we shall return. They are those on whom are the Salawât (i.e. blessings, etc.) (i.e. who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His Mercy, and it is they who are the guided-ones. (Al-Baqarah 2:155-157)
Then he (i.e. Ibn Al-Qayyim) mentioned the Hadeeth of Al-Istirja‘ (1) and then he said: This expression is one of the most effective and most beneficial treatments for one who is afflicted by calamities, because it contains two fundamental principles, which if they are realized, the slave will be consoled thereby from his calamity.
The first of them is that the slave and his wealth belong to Allah and He has given it to him as a loan.
The second of them is that the return is to Allah and it is inevitable that he will leave the life of this world behind; so if this is his beginning and his end, then his thinking about them is one of the greatest treatments for this illness and a part of his treatment is that he knows that what was ordained to afflict him cannot miss him and what was ordained to miss him cannot afflict him.

And a part of it is that his Lord has set aside for him the like of that which he missed or better and He has stored up for him that which is many times better than the calamity and that if He willed, He could have made the calamity greater than it was.
Another part of it is His extinguishing the fire of his misfortune by the coolness of comfort and consolation, so he should look to his right and to his left (i.e. at the world around him) and he should know that the pleasures of this life are an illusion, though they may cause him to laugh a little, they will cause him to weep much.
Also a part of it is the knowledge that discontent does not alleviate the misfortune; indeed, it increases it.
And another part of it is the knowledge that losing the reward which Allah has guaranteed for patience and istirja’ is greater than it.
And another part of the treatment is the knowledge that discontent causes his enemy to take pleasure and grieves his friend and makes his Lord Angry.
Still another part of it is the knowledge that the pleasure which follows patient perseverance and the expectation of Allah’s Reward is many times greater than that which he would have experienced from the thing which he lost, if it had remained with him.
Another part of it is that he should soothe his heart by seeking recompense for it from Allah.
And a part of it is the knowledge that his reaction to the calamity will determine what happens to him, for whoever accepts (Allah’s Qadar), Allah will be pleased with him and whoever is angry at it, Allah will be Angry with him.
Also a part of the treasure is the knowledge that even if he was patient sometime after the calamity struck, that being the patience of one who is resigned, that is not praiseworthy and it is not rewarded.
And another part of it is the knowledge that one of the most effective medicines is the success granted by Allah in attaining that which He loves and which is pleasing to Him and that it is the essence of love.
Another part of it is for him to compare between the greater and the lesser of the two pleasures: between the pleasure which he enjoys due to (his acceptance of) the calamity which befell him and the pleasure which he enjoys due to the reward of Allah (which he receives due to his acceptance and patient perseverance).
And a part of it is the knowledge that the One Who puts him to trial is the Best of judges and the Most Merciful of those who show mercy and that He has not subjected him to misfortune in order to destroy him, but in order to test him and to hear entreaties and see him prostrating at His door.
Another part of it is the knowledge that misfortunes are a means of preventing sickness which will cause his destruction, such as pride, arrogance, and hardness of heart.
Still another part of it is the knowledge that the bitterness of this life is the sweetness f the afterlife and vice versa. And if this is not apparent to you, examine the words of the truthful one, whose words are believed:

“Paradise is surrounded by hardships and the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations.” (2)
And in this matter, the minds of mankind are at fault and the reality of men is made clear (i.e. that they prefer the temporary pleasures of this world to the everlasting pleasures of the Hereafter).
Footnotes:
(1) Al-Istirja’: Saying the words: “Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Raji’oon” (Verily, we are for Allah and to Him we shall return). This Hadeeth was narrated by Muslim and Ahmad, on the authority of Umm Salamah radiAllaahu ‘anha
(2) Narrated Muslim, At-Tirmidhi, Ahmad and Ad-Darimi, on the authority of Anas Ibn Malik radiAllahu ‘anhu

When Small Sins gather, They bring about Destruction

Here we should mention the Hadith that Imam Ahmad recorded, in which `Abdullah bin Mas`ud said that the Messenger of Allah said,

«إِيَّاكُمْ وَمُحَقَّرَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ فَإِنَّهُنَّ يَجْتَمِعْنَ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ حَتّى يُهْلِكْنَه»

(Beware of the belittled sins, because they gather on a person until they destroy him.)

He then said that the Messenger of Allah gave them an example,

(This is the example of people who set up camp on a flat land, and then their servants came. One of them collected some wood and another man collected some wood until they collected a great deal. They then started a fire and cooked what they put on it.)

Muhammad bin Ishaq reported that Ibn `Abbas said that,

(And those who believe and do righteous good deeds, they are dwellers of Paradise, they will dwell therein forever) "Whoever believes in what you (Jews) did not believe in and implements what you refrained from implementing of Muhammad's religion, shall acquire Paradise for eternity. Allah stated that the recompense for good or evil works shall remain with its people for eternity. ''

(83. And (remember) when We took a covenant from the Children of Israel, (saying): Worship none but Allah (alone) and be dutiful and good to parents, and to kindred, and to orphans and (the poor), and speak good to people and perform As-Salah and give Zakah. Then you slid back, except a few of you, while you are backsliders.)

Foundation of the Sunnaah

Imaam Ahmad ibn Hanbal Rahimahullaah
Pg 91-93
Ibn Abee Ya’laa Reports in his Tabaqaatul –Hanaabilah,2 1/163-167,

From Sulaymaan Ibn ‘Abdullaah as Sijzee(who said), I came to the door of Al Mu’tasim and saw that the people had crowded together at his door, as if it was day of ‘Eed. I entered the place and saw a spread out carpet and chair that had been thrown on the floor. I stood facing the chair and whilst I was standing, al Mu’tasim approached me and sat on the chair. He removed his shoes from his feet and placed one foot on top of the other. Then he said. ‘Let Ahmad be present,’ so he was brought out in his presence. After Imaam Ahmed stood in front of him and greeted him (al Mu;tasim) said,’O Ahmad speak and do not be afraid. ‘So Imaam Ahmad said, By Allaah , O Ameerul Mu’mineen I have just entered upon you and there is no a seed weight of anxiety in my heart.”

Al Mu’tasim said to him, ‘What do you say about Qur’aan?’
He said, “the speech of Allaah , eternal , not created .Allaah , the Mighty and Majestic said:

And if anyone of the Mushrikûn (polytheists, idolaters, pagans, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh) seeks your protection then grant him protection, so that he may hear the Word of Allâh (the Qur'ân), and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men who know not. (6)
So he said, do you have a proof other than this?’

Imaam Ahmad replied,’ Yes O Ameerul-Mu’mineen, The saying of Allaah , the Mighty and Majestic

The Most Gracious (Allâh)! (1) He has taught (you mankind) the Qur'ân (by His Mercy). (2)
And He did not say ‘Ar Rahmaan. He Created the Qur’aan.’ And His saying, the Mighty and Majestic

Yâ-Sîn. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Qur'ân, and none but Allâh (Alone) knows their meanings.] (1) By the Qur'ân, full of wisdom (i.e. full of laws, evidences, and proofs), (2)

He did not say:Yaa’seen. By the Qur’aan (that is) created.’
So Al Mu’tasim said, ‘Imprison him.’ So he was imprisoned and the people dispersed.
When I arose (the next morning) I made my way to the door (of al Mu’tasim)and the people were entering, so I entered along with them .Al Mu’tasim approached and sat on the chair and said ,Bring Ahmad ibn Hanbal,’ and so he was brought . When he stood in from of him, Al Mu’tasim said to him, ‘How were you in your cell yesterday, O Ahmad?’

Imaam Ahmad said, ‘In goodness and all praise are due to Allaah, except that in my cell, Omeerul Mu’mineen, I saw something amazing.” He said to him, ‘And what did you see?’ So he replied, I arose in the middle of the night, performed ablution for the prayers and prayed two rak’ahs. In one rak’ah;Alhamdulillaah…’ and Qul A’oodhu bi Rabbin-Naas,’and the second rak’ah; Alhamdulillaah…and ‘Qul A’oodhu bi-Rabbil-Falaq.’Then I sat down and read tashahhud and gave salutation ( to my right and to my left).then I stood (again) made the takbeer and recited:’Alhamdulillaah…’ and desired to read :Qul- Huwallaahu –Ahad,’and I was not able. I tried hard to read something else from the Qur’aan and I was not able. Then I stretched my eyes to the corner of the prison and (behold) I saw the Qur’aan laid out (on the floor), dead. So I washed it and shrouded it, then prayed over it and buried it.”

So Al Mu’tasim said, Woe to you, O Ahmad, and does the Qur’aan die!” So Ahmad said to him, well that is what you say-that it is created. And everything that is created dies.” Al Mu’tasim said, Ahmad has Subdued us, Ahmad has subdued us.’

Sitting with Sheikh Zayd Bin Haadi Al-Madhkhali and Sheikh ‘Ubayd Al-Jaabiri

28th April 2011 – 24/5/1432

(Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami)

Over 500 students attended this gathering in Madinah mashaallaah and other scholars such as Sheikh Muhammad bin Haadi al-Madhkhali , Sheikh Muhammad Bin Rabee’ Bin Haadi.

The night began with Sheikh Muhammad Bin Haadi chairing and introducing the scholars present in particular the guest Sheikh Zayd Bin Haadi Al-Madhkhali (may Allaah protect him) and he called him father, our teacher, Al-‘Alaama Sheikh Zayd the flag bearer of Sunnah and fatwa after the mujaahid, the scholar Sheikh Ahmed Najmi rahimahullaah.

Sheikh Muhammad Bin Haadi said: this gathering reminds me of the sittings between the scholars that are mentioned in the books of the scholars’ biographies whereby the scholars would clarify the correct path and warn against the ignorant ones, the false story tellers. The scholars would take from the inheritance for the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam with the correct understanding and would uncover those with the false understanding.

Sheikh Zayd began by praising Allaah and sending peace and blessings upon the Messenger sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam and prayers upon his family and companions. And then Sheikh Zayd said:

As I said yesterday in the lesson in Masjid Bani Salima (qiblatain) that when Sheikh Muhammad Bin Haadi praises me it is only out of his love (the sheikh did not like to be praised even though he deserves to be praised for his efforts in the da’wah and teaching people good mashaallaah and we do not praise him above Allaah’s praise and Allaah is his reckoner).

Sheikh Zayd also commented that questions should be passed onto Sheikh ‘Ubayd Al-Jaabiri (who sat beside him) but Sheikh ‘Ubayd only took one question as he said that Sheikh Zayd came from a long distance and it was his right as a guest for the people to benefit from. Mashaallaah this evening, it was clear and apparent, the love of the scholars had for each other alhamdulillaah and indeed with Allaah is success.

Then Sheikh Zayd spoke about the best sittings upon the earth are the sittings of remembering Allaah in its general sense which includes learning correct knowledge from the people of knowledge so these sittings are not restricted to just praising and extolling Allaah but he said from the best remembrance is to learn the legislation of Allaah for indeed Allaah has promised them a great reward.

Six Things that can Guarantee you Jannah

Ebaddah ibn Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated Allah’s Messenger (sallahu alayhi wa salim) said: “Guarantee me you’ll do six things and I guarantee you Jannah. Whenever you speak say the truth. Fulfill your promises when you make them. When you’re entrusted with something, carry out that trust. Safeguard your private parts, lower your gaze and prevent your hands from harming others.”

Collected by Ibn Khuzaymah (3/91), Ibn Hibban (107), Al-Hakim (4/ 358,359), Al-Khara’itee in Noble character (page 31), Ahmed (5/323) .Shaykh Al-Albani graded this hadeeth as being Hasan Lee Ghayri hi (1470) in Saheehah

Benefits for this topic:

Abdur Razzaq ibn Abdul Muhsin (may Allah preserve him) commented on this hadeeth. He wrote:

· ““Guarantee me you’ll do six things and I guarantee you Jannah” refers to six actions that are easy to do. These six deeds are among the doors of piety, which are so simple and easy to perform. Whoever continues to practices these six things in his life until death is guaranteed Jannah. This is a safe and sure path to paradise. Allah says, “And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V.2:2) not far off. (It will be said): "This is what you were promised, - (it is) for those oft-returning (to Allah) in sincere repentance, and those who preserve their covenant with Allah (by obeying Him in all what He has ordered, and worship none but Allah Alone, i.e. follow Allah's Religion, Islamic Monotheism). "Who feared the Most Beneficent (Allah) in the Ghaib (unseen): (i.e. in this worldly life before seeing and meeting Him), and brought a heart turned in repentance (to Him - and absolutely free from each and every kind of polytheism), Enter you therein in peace and security; this is a Day of eternal life!" There they will have all that they desire, and We have more (for them, i.e. a glance at the All-Mighty, All-Majestic [ Qaf 31-35]

Beware of Overeating!

An explanation of a hadeeth on the adab of eating. A look into the harms that can arise from overeating and how it can effect a person’s religion and health

Thus, it is incumbent upon an individual to take heed of this prophetic moral and to not be excessive when it comes to eating or his desires. In addition to this, if a person reaches a point where he is extremely greedy regarding food then it is likely that the halaal will not suffice him, hence he will set out seeking the haraam so he can fulfill his (evil) cravings.

In the name of Allaah, the Most Beneficent, Bestower of Mercy,

Hadeeth #1476: On the authority of al-Miqdaam ibn Ma'deekarib, radiyallaahu 'anhu, who said: The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: "No child of Aadam ever filled a vessel more destructive than his stomach."1

Explanation:

In this hadeeth is a prohibition from eating to one's fill and indulging excessively in the luxuries of the worldy-life. The Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: "No child of Aadam ever filled a vessel more destructive than his stomach." That is because if he fills his stomach it will harm him tremendously with regards to his religion and his health.
