Congratulations on the new year or the occasion of Mawlid

Fatwa no. 20795
Q 1: Is it permissible to congratulate non-Muslims on the occasion of the new Gregorian year, the new Hijri (lunar) year, and the Mawlid (the Prophet’s birthday)?
A: It is not permissible to offer congratulations on such occasions; for it is not Mashru‘ (Islamically permissible) to celebrate them.
May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and Companions!

A Forgotten Sunnah – Between the Jumu’ah and Sunnah Prayer.

A Forgotten Sunnah – Between the Jumu’ah and Sunnah Prayer.

‘Umar ibn ‘Ata bin Abi Al-Khuwar narrated that Nafi bin Jubair sent him to As-Sa’ib bin Yazid, the maternal nephew of Namir, asking him regarding something Mu’awiyah had seen him do in the prayer. He said: “ I prayed Jum’uah with Mu’awiyah in his enclosure and when he finished, I stood up in my place and prayed. When he went inside he sent for me and said” Do not repeat what you have just done. If you pray Jum’uah don’t join it with another prayer until you speak or exit the masjid. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered us to separate between prayers. One prayer mustn’t be joined with another until you speak or exit.

Collected by Muslim [ 883]

Benefits for this subject:

· Ibn Munthir ( [318 H] may Allah have mercy on him) narrated an athar in his Awsot about this hadeeth from the acts of our Salaf. He wrote, “ Ibn Umar saw a man pray two rakah after Jum’uah and he stopped him. Ibn Umar asked the man,” Are you praying four rakah for Jum’uah!” It was Ibn Umar’s practice to pray the two sunnah prayers for Jum’uah in his home. He said, “ This was the way of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) [ Al-Awsot vol 4 /136]

· Shaykh Al-Uthaymeen (may Allah rest him in Firdous ) said “There are numerous lessons derived from this hadeeth.” Some of those lessons are:

1. A person doesn’t join one prayer with another until he speaks between them. No Fard prayer with a Sunnah. On the other hand the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray the Nawafil prayers at night in two rakah, two rakah with no separating between them.

2. The shar’iah places importance in differentiating between Fard and Nafil. This hadeeth proves it.

We worship Allah with love, hope and fear

Taken from: www.spubs.com article ID: SCL010003

All praise is due to Allaah, Lord of the Worlds and prayers and peace upon His Messenger, Muhammad.

In this lesson we shall try to develop an understanding of some of the characterstics of worship (ibaadah) - which begins in the heart. Thus, this lesson is really dealing with the ‘actions of the heart’ - you should remember what this is from the first lesson.

Ibn Taymiyyah (rh) gave the definition of worship as follows:

"Worship is everything that Allaah loves and is pleased with from the inward and outward sayings and actions."

In other words this is very similar to the complete and comprehensive definition of eemaan that we dealt with in Lesson 1. This lesson will deal with the ‘inward actions of the heart’ which really form the basis of a Muslim’s servitude to Allaah.

As usual we shall summarise the lesson with a quotation. Today’s quotation should be easy for everyone. It is the first few verses of Surah Faatihah!

Seize five things from the people of your time…

From (the Scholar) Abdur Rahman ibn Abee Haatim Ar-Raazee who said:

دَخَلْتُ دَمَشْقَ عَلَى كَتَبَةِ الحَدِيْثِ فَمَرَرْتُ بِحَلَقَةِ قَاسِم الجُوْعِي

I entered upon the students of hadeeth in Damascus and I passed by the circle (halaqah) of (the Scholar) Qaasim al Joo’ee

So I saw a group sitting around him and he was speaking to them

Their appearance amazed me, so I went and sat and heard him say:

اِغْتَنِمُوا مِنْ أَهْلِ زَمَانِكُمْ خَمْساً

Seize five things from the people of your time:

إِنْ حَضَرْتُمْ لَمْ تُعْرَفُوا

When you are present (attending something), you are not known

And when you are absent, you are not missed

And when you are present your advice is not sought

And when you say something, your speech is not accepted

And when you do something, you are not given anything for it

I also advise you with five things:

إِنْ ظُلِمْتُمْ لَمْ تَظْلِمُوا

When you are wronged, you do not wrong others

And when you are praised, you do not become happy

And when you are criticized, you do not become sad

And when you are not believed, then do not become angry

And others betray you, then do not betray them

So I took this as my benefit from Damascus

Tale-Carrying

Bismillaah innal hamdulillaah was salaatu was salaamu `alaa
rasoolillaah wa `alaa aalihi wa sahbihi ajma`een, wa ba`ad...

as salaamu `alaykunna wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuh-

Tale carrying involves converying the speech of one group of people to another in order to spread dissention between them. Allaah has indeed censured the one described with this characteristic and forbade against listening to his speech as He Says (meaning): "And do not obey every habitual swearer and slanderer going about with malicious gossip: preventer of good, transgressing and sinful." [68:10-12]

His statement "going about with malicious gossip" refers to the one who goes around among the people inciting discord and carrying tales as mentioned in Tafseer ibn Katheer.

Tale carrying is from the major sins: On authority of ibn `Abbaas (radiyAllaahu `anhumaa) that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) passed by two graves and they were being tormented, but they were not being tormented for something great, while indeed it is a major sin. One of them carried tales and the other did not keep himself free from being defiled by urine. [Saheehayn]

...Hudhayfah said, "I heard the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa aalihi wa sallam) say: 'A slanderer (Qattaat) will not enter Paradise.' " [Bukhaaree #6056/10]

His statement "Qattaat" is explained in the narration of Muslim: "A tale carrier (Nammaam) will not enter Paradise."

It is said that the slanderer (Qattaat) is one that listens to something that he does not know about, and then he converys what he has heard.

So the affair of tale carrying is a dangerous one, it creates dissention between friends and corrupts the strong bonds that connect them...

It is from corruption and animosity. Allaah has prohibited corruption as He Says (meaning): "And do not seek corruption in the land. Indeed, Allaah does not like people of corruption." [28:77]

rather, He orders rectification: "Fear Allaah and rectify that which is between you." [8:1] Additionally He Says (meaning): "And if two factions from the believers should fight, then reconcile between them." [49:9]

He Says (meaning): "There is no good in much of their private conversation, except for those who enjoin charity or that which is good or reconciliation between people. Whoever does that seeking the pleasure of Allaah, then We will give him a great reward." [4:114]

And the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said from the narration of abu ad-Dardaa': "Should I not inform you of something more excellent in degree than fasting and giving charity?" They said, 'Of course, O Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam)!' He said, "Reconciliation between the people and the corruption of this is destructive (Haaliqah)." [as-saheeh al-Musnad 149/2, abu Daawood]

"Haaliqah" is the characteristic that usually causes people to shave; meaning it destroys and eliminates the religion just as the razor eliminates the hair. It is also saod that it is the severing of family ties and mutual oppression. [an-Nihaayah 428/1]

From the examples of efforts to corrupt relationships is the inciting of a woman against her husband.

Abu Daawood narrated upon the authority of abu Hurayrah (radiyAllaahu `anhu) who said that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Whoever incites the wife of a man or his servant against him is not from us." [Hasan]

Therefore, it is obligatory to strive towards reconciliation between the Muslims and not to corrupt them.

Moreover, his statement "is not from us" is if he was in opposition to Islaamic Law. then he is considered a disbeliever so the meaning entails that he is not upon our rligion...if he was negligent, then the meaning here is that he is not upon our way. Also from the pious predecessors, there were those who said that it should be understood as it was revealed...

Know that the one who carries tales to you carries tales about you. So I advise whoever possesses this characteristic with softness, easiness, and good admonition time after time. However, if she is not reprimanded, then warn your sisters from her and stay away from her gatherings.

The people of knowledge differ regarding backbiting and tale carrying. Do they oppose one another or are they similar? The position supported by al-Haafidh (rahimahullaah) is that dissimilarity exists between the two and that between the two are both general and specific aspects...carrying tales is conveying the condition of a person to other than him for the purpose of spreading mischief without his consent, regardless of whether he knew about it or not; whereas backbiting is mentioning him in his absence with that which is displeasing to him. Therefore, tale carrying is distinct in that it is done with the intention of spreading mischief and this is not a condition applicable backbiting. Backbiting is distinct in that it occurs in the absence of the subject of the backbiting; but both carrying tales and backbiting share in other than what has been mentioned...

Indeed shaykh Muhammad ibn `abdul-Wahhaab (rahimahullaah) mentioned a chapter entitled "Chapter: In clarification of some of the types of magic" in Kitaab at-Tawheed. From the evidences that he mentioned is the prophetic narration narrated by Muslim upon the authority of ibn Mas`ood (radiyAllaah `anhu) that the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam) said: "Should I not inform you what slandering is? It is a tale carrying which creates dissention amongst people." The explainer of Kitaab at-Tawheed - `abdur-Rahmaan Hasan said that ibn `abdul-Barr mentioned upon the authority of Yahyaa ibn abee Katheer who said, "The one who carries tales and backbites corrupts in one hour what a magician cannot corrupt in a year." Abul-Khattaab said, "And from magic is laboring in carrying tales and spreading corruption between the people." [`Uyyoon al-Masaa'il] He said, "And he pointed out that he means harm with his speech and action by way of deceit and trickery which resembles magic, and this is commonly known to the people, by way of custom, that it produces and generates results which are similar to magic, or even more so. Thus, it is assigned the ruling of magic in an attempt to unite that which is similar or approximate. However, it is said, 'The magician disbelieves by way of his association to magic.' This is a specific affair with specific evidence, while the other is not a magician; but rather indeed, his action produces what a magician may produce, so he is given the same ruling except in what is specific to magic like disbelief and the abandonment of accepting a magician's repentance." “I am from amongst those few.”

The Prophet (‘aleyhi salat wa salam) said:

“The life spans of my Ummah are between sixty and seventy years, few amongst them surpass this.”

Ibn Urfah said: “I am from amongst those few.”

Shaykh Al-Albaani (rahimahullaah) comments:

“I say; I am also amongst those few, for I have surpassed the age of 84, I ask Allaah the Glorified, that I am amongst those who lived long with good deeds. But I also almost wish that I pass away, due to what the Muslims have been afflicted with concerning deviation from the religion, and what is happening to them, even from the lowly. But how can I wish so, while the Hadeeth of Anas has been before my eyes since my youth, I cannot say except what my Prophet ordered me to say: “O Allaah, keep me alive as long as living is better for me, and take my soul if death is better for me.”

Most Superior way of asking for Forgiveness from Allah

The Messenger of Allaah – may peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him – said :

Indeed the major supplication for forgiveness is to say

fa’innahu la yaghfiru ath-thunooba ‘illa ‘anta” [ Sahih Bukhari Vol.8 Hadith no:318]

“O Allaah You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship in truth except You, You created me and
I am Your slave and I am abiding to Your covenant and promise as best as I can, I seek refuge in You
from the evil that I have committed, I profess to you my sins and I acknowledge Your favour upon me,
so forgive me verily no one forgives sins except you.”

So if the worshipper says this when the morning arrives, truly believing init and he dies enters Paradise,
and if he says this when the evening arrives truly believing in it enters Paradise.

The first dialogue between woman and man

Suddi narrated through Abu Saalih and Abu Maalik from Ibn ‘Abbaas and Ibn Mas’ud, and also from some other Companions who said:

Iblis (Satan) was expelled from Paradise and Adaam was made to dwell in it. He wandered through it alone as he had no partner in whom he could seek his comfort. However, once he slept and when he woke up, he found a woman sitting near his head, whom Allaah had created from his rib. Adam asked her: “What are you?” She replied: “A woman.” He asked her again: “What are you created for?” She answered: “So you could seek comfort in me.” Angels who were well aware of the extent of the knowledge of Adam asked: “What is her name O Adaam?” He said: “Eve (Hawwa).” They asked him: “Why is it Hawwa?” Adam replied: “Because she was created from something living.“

Sitting in a sunny and shady place

Q: What is the ruling on sitting half under the shade and half under the sun?

A: Sitting under shade and sun at the same time is Makruh (reprehensible) because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade it, as related by Ibn Majah with a good Sanad (chain of narrators). It is authentically reported that the Prophet (may peace be upon) called it the "Sitting of Satan." (Related by Ahmad and Ibn Majah. May Allah grant us success! May peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and Companions!

Scholars and Islamic Teachers Act Upon Their Knowledge

This is an extremely important characteristic which should be found in the individual who is in a position to teach the religion. He should be mindful that he has become an example for others to follow. With this being the case his statements and actions must be in accordance with what Islam legislates and encourages. This also demands that the teacher displays exemplary character, especially when in the presence of others. Allah - The Most High - mentioned in the Glorious Quran concerning Prophet Shua'ib:

وَمَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ أُخَالِفَكُمْ إِلَى مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْهُ

{I do not wish to oppose that which I call you to} Surah Hud:88

The famous companion Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

إن أخوف ما أخاف إذا وقفت على الحساب أن يقال لي: قد علمت، فماذا عملت فيما علمت

Indeed my greatest fear concerning standing on the Day of Judgment is that it will be said to me: You have learned, hence what have you done with your knowledge?!

(Jam'e Bayaan al 'Elm wa Fadlihee #647)

Imam al Thahabee mentioned on the authority of Abu 'Umraan who said that Hiram bin Hayaan said:

إِيَّاكُم وَالعَالِمَ الفَاسِقَ.

Beware of the sinful scholar.

When this statement reached 'Umar ibn al Khattaab (ra) he wrote to Hiram inquiring about it. Hiram replied:

I only intended good oh Leader of the believers! If the scholar speaks with knowledge and then acts with sin, this will confuse the people and they will be led astray. (Tareekh al Islam 5/534)

Sheikh 'Abdul 'Azeez bin Baaz said:

Another matter which relates to the student of knowledge with regards to his position with Allah firstly, and secondly with regards to his brothers and the society, is that he should fear Allah within himself. When he learns something, he is diligent in performing it without delay and procrastination. He learns and he acts upon it. It is incumbent that actions accompany knowledge. The student should constantly bring himself to account. (The Obligation of a Student of Knowledge pg.15)

Sheikh Muhammad bin Saleh al 'Uthaymeen mentioned:

It is incumbent upon the student of knowledge to act upon his knowledge. This includes belief, worship, manners, character and dealings with others. This is the fruit and result of knowledge. The carrier of knowledge is similar to the carrier of a weapon. This weapon could either defend him or harm him. It is because of this that the Prophet (may the Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

وَالْقُرْآنُ حُجَّةٌ لَكَ أَوْ عَلَيْكَ

The Quran is a proof for you or against you. (Sahih Muslim)

(Mejmoo' Fatawaa 26/80)

It is vital that those who are in positions to teach the Muslim communities realize that they must set a good example and display fear of Allah in private and in open. It is due to this that Imam al 'Awzai'ee mentioned:

كنا نضحك ونمزح ، فلما صرنا يقتدى بنا خشيت أن لا يسعنا التبسم

We used to laugh, but when we became individuals who others followed, I feared that it was no longer befitting for us to smile.

(Al Madkal ila Sunan al Kubraa 1/448)

Although no Muslim would deny the permissibility of laughing, the above narration displays for us the great importance the Salaf gave to being cautious of one's character, especially for those who are looked at as examples in the Muslim communities.

Sheikh Abdul 'Azeez bin Baaz said while discussing the great status that Allah has given to the people of knowledge, he said:

The scholars are on a higher level than the layman. This is due to the enormous effect they have on the people, and the tremendous benefit they disperse to the masses. (Knowledge and the Character of its People pg.7)

It is due to this fact that the Salaf were very keen to monitor the teacher's character before taking knowledge from him. Ibraheem al Nakha'ee said:

كانوا إذا أتوا الرجل ليأخذوا عنه نظروا إلى هديه وسمته وصلاته ثم أخذوا عنه

If they (students of knowledge) approached an individual for the purpose of study, they would first examine his guidance, character and prayer. Then they would take knowledge from him. (At Temheed 1/48)

In light of this information, it is befitting that the Muslim communities are cautious who they take their knowledge from. They should not lend their ears to any and every individual, even if those individuals claim to have a level of knowledge and are able to benefit others. Rather, the Muslim communities seek to benefit from those who to the best of their ability display exemplified Islamic character. By doing so, these individuals (teachers) have truly helped their Muslim brothers and sisters by first saving themselves, and then trying their level best to save others from a blazing Hell-fire.

The above information is a summarized excerpt of an article soon to be available titled:
The Characteristics of Those Who Knowledge is Taken From

A Collection of Guidelines on What a Person Can Do to Protect Himself From Magic

Compiled by: Shaykh ‘Alee bin Ghazi at-Tawayjjari
Taken from: The book ‘Tabseer al-Bashr bi-Tahreem as-Sihar’
Translated by: Abbas Abu Yahya The following is a summary of a collection of rulings and benefits:

A - Magic is Haraam and it is not allowed to perform it, nor is it allowed to learn it or teach it. It is not permissible to go to magicians and the like.

B - The disbelief of magicians, the danger of believing in them and clarification of the severity of its sin.

C - Having knowledge of the Tafseer of Allaah’s saying: << They followed what the Shayateen (devils) gave out falsely of magic in the lifetime of Sulayman1>> Ayaah 102 from Sooratul Baqarah, the reasons for its revelation and the strongest opinion regarding it.

D - Having knowledge of the Tafseer of the story of Musa with Pharaoh and the benefits it contains. Seeking cure and treatment by reciting those Ayaat3 upon the one who has had magic done to them, such that he will be cured by the permission of Allaah.

E - Magic is a real and tangible entity. That is why it is necessary for the Muslim to fortify himself against it by following what is mentioned in the Sharia’.
As a fortification against it:
1 - Implementing Tawheed and sincerity for Allaah Ta’ala.
2 - Tawaakul (trusting) in Allaah and relying upon Him, entrusting the matter to Him. Allaah -Ta’ala- said: << And whosoever puts his trust in Allaah, then He will suffice him>> [Talaaq: 3]

3 - Being continuous regarding the prayers, especially Fajr prayer. Allaah Ta’ala said: <> [Baqarah: 238] In the Saheeh of Muslim on the authority of Jundub bin Sufyaan - RadhiAllaahu anhu - who said that the Messenger of Allaah - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: ‘Whoever prays the Morning Prayer; then he is under the protection of Allaah, so watch, O son of Aadam, so that nothing can take you away from Allaah’s protection.’4
4 - Reading Sooratul-Baqarah in your home: The Messenger - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: ‘Do not make your homes like graves. Indeed the Shaytaan flees from the house in which Sooratul-Baqarah is read.’5 He - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – also said: ‘Read Sooratul- Baqarah, since taking it is blessed and leaving it is grief and the Batlah (magicians) cannot read it.’6 Muawiyah7 said: ‘It has reached me that the Batlah are the magicians.’
5 - Reading Ayaatul-Kursi after every obligatory prayer after the legislated ‘Adhkaar (supplications) which follow giving the sallam in prayer.8 What indicates this is the saying of the Messenger - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam: ‘Whoever reads Ayaatul-Kursi at the end of every obligatory prayer; nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death.’9
6 - Reciting Ayaatul-Kursi when going to sleep. This is what Bukhari narrated with an incomplete chain on the authority of Abu Huraira -RadhiAllaahu anhu - who said: The Messenger of Allaah appointed me to look after the Zakat of Ramadan, so someone came to me to take some food….’ then he mentioned the hadeeth and in it: Shaytaan said: ‘When you go to your bed then recite Ayaatul- Kursi, indeed it will be protection from Allaah for you and the Shaytaan will not be able to come close to you until the morning!’ Abu Huraira let him go and in the morning he informed the Prophet - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – of what he had said: The Prophet - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: He spoke the truth even though he is a liar.’10
7 - Reading the last two Ayaat of Sooratul-Baqarah: What is narrated by Bukhari and Muslim on the authority Abu Mas’ood al- Ansaari -RadhiAllaahu anhu - who said the Messenger of Allaah - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: ‘Whoever reads the last two Ayaat from the end of Sooratul-Baqarah at night then they will be sufficient for him.’11
8 - Reading the last three Soorah of the Qur’aan in the morning and evening: What has narrated by Abdullaah bin Khubbayb -RadhiAllaahu anhu - who said: ‘We went out on a very dark rainy night seeking the Messenger of Allaah - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – for him to lead us in prayer.’ The Messenger of Allaah - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: ‘Say.’ But I did not say anything. Then he - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: <> [Soorah Ikhlaas] and the last two Soorahs three times when you reach the evening and the morning, they will be sufficient for you against everything.’12
9 - Reading the last three Soorah of the Qur’aan after every prayer: What has been narrated by ‘Uqbah bin ‘Aamir -RadhiAllaahu anhu - who said: ‘The Messenger of Allaah - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – commanded me to read the last three Soorah of the Qur’aan after every prayer.’13
10 - A Muslim should say: ‘In the name of Allaah with Whose Name nothing whatsoever on this earth or in the heavens is harmed and He is The All Hearing and All Knowing.’ Bismil-lahil-lathee la yadhurru ma’a ‘issmihi shay’un fil ‘ardhi wa la fissama’i wa huwa ‘as-samee’ul –‘aleem Three times in the morning and evening.14
11 - Seeking much refuge in Allaah with: ‘The perfect Words of Allaah from the evil of what He has created’ in the night and the day, when stopping to rest in a building, a desert, in the sky or sea, due to the saying of the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-: ‘Whoever stops at a place on his journey and then says: - أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ I seek refuge in the perfect Words of Allaah from the evil of what He has created – A’outhu bikalimatil-lahi ‘at-taammati min sharri ma khalaqa nothing will harm him until he leaves that place.’15
12 - To eat seven Ajwa dates from al-Madinah in the morning, due to the saying of the Messenger -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam-: ‘Whoever eats seven Ajwa dates in the morning, neither poison nor magic will harm him on that day.’16 Or he can eat seven dates from the land of al-Madinah due to what Imaam Muslim narrated on the authority of the Prophet -sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam- who said: ‘Whoever eats seven dates from the land of al-Madinah in the morning then poison will not harm him until the evening.’17 The great scholar Ibn Baz held the opinion that it is hoped that this protection is also for the one who eats seven of any type of date even if they are not from the dates of al-Madinah.
13 - Purifying your home from pictures and statues due to what is narrated by Muslim on the authority of Abu Huraira -RadhiAllaahu anhu - who said that the Messenger of Allaah - sallAllaahu alayhi wa sallam – said: ‘Angels do not enter a house where there are statues or pictures.’18 So the presence of pictures and statues in a house prevents the Angels from entering that home and a home that the Angels do not enter is easily entered by the Shayateen (devils). This fortification is not just specific to magic rather it is for repelling evil in general, and from the evil that it repels is magic.
14 -From this fortification is saying: ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer’ ‘There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah Alone, He has no partners, to Him belongs the Dominion and for Him is all praise and He is capable of all things,’ one hundred times. Indeed the one who says it, then it is a protection for him against Shaytaan during that day.19
15 - From this fortification is saying: ‘La ilaha ‘illa Allaahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyee wa yumeet wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer’ ‘There is none worthy of worship in truth except Allaah Alone, He has no partners, to Him belongs the Dominion and for Him is all praise, He gives life and He takes life and He is capable of all things.’ ten times after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers. Indeed for the one who says this it will be protection for him against every disliked thing and a guard against Shaytaan.20
All Praise belongs to Allaah, may His peace and blessings be upon our final Prophet Muhammad, his family, his companions and all those who follow his guidance.

1 << They followed what the Shayateen (devils) gave out falsely of magic in the lifetime of Sulayman. Sulayman did not disbelieve, but the Shayateen disbelieved, teaching men magic and such things that came down at Babylon to the two angels, Haroot and Maroot, but neither of these two (angels) taught anyone (such things) til they had said, "We are only for trial, so disbelieve not (by learning this magic from us)." And from these (angels) people learn that by which they cause separation between man and his wife, but they could not thus harm anyone except by Allaah’s Leave. And they learn that which harms them and profits them not. And indeed they knew that the buyers of it (magic) would have no share in the Hereafter. And how bad indeed was that for which they sold their own selves, if they but knew. >> Ayaah 102 from Sooratul Baqarah

Change

Shaykh Muhammad Naasiruddin al-Albani

The best way to change the evil is for Muslims to repent to their Lord, correct their beliefs, and nurture themselves and their families according to the correct Islam, as Allaah says 'Verily, Allaah does not change: people's condition unless they change what is in themselves.' (Soorah ar-Ra'd 13:11). And the way to salvation is not, as some people imagine, to rise up with arms against the rulers, and to conduct military coups. In addition to being among the contemporary bid'ahs (innovations), such actions disregard the texts of Islam, among which is the command to change ourselves. Furthermore, it is imperative to establish the foundation upon which the building will stand: 'Verily, Allaah will Most certainly support him who supports His cause; verily, Allaah is Most Powerful and Almighty.' (surah al-Hajj 22:40). This is the methodical and orderly approach, and the correct practice based upon the Qur'aan and Sunnah that the Ummah must agree upon, enjoin and call to.

The Sunnah is Islaam and Islaam is the Sunnah

Imaam al-Barbahaari (rahimahullaah) said:

All praise is for Allaah who guided us to Islaam and blessed us with it and placed us in the best nation, so we ask Him to grant us that we keep to that which He loves and is pleased with and avoid that which He hates and which angers Him.

Know that Islam is the Sunnah, and the Sunnah is Islaam[1] and one of them cannot be established without the other.

NOTES

1. The Prophet said, "He who turns away from my Sunnah is not from me." Reported by al-Bukhaaree (Eng. trans. 7/1-2/no.l), Muslim (Eng. Trans. 2/703/n0.3236) and an-Nasaa'ee.

Abu Hurairah said that Allaah's Messenger said, "All of my Ummah will enter Paradise except those who refuse." It was said, "Who will refuse?" He replied. "Whoever obeys me enters Paradise and whoever disobeys me has refused." Reported by al-Bukhaaree (Eng. trans. 9/284/n0.384).

Imaam az-Zuhree (the famous taabi'ee, d.124H) said,"The people of knowledge who came before us used to say,'Salvation lies in clinging to the Sunnah.'" Reported by ad-Daarimee in his Sunan (no.96).

Imaam Maalik said,"The Sunnah is like the Ark of Noah. Whoever embarks upon it reaches salvation and whoever refuses is drowned." Quoted by Shaikh ul-Islaam Ibn Taimiyyah in Majmoo' ul-fataawaa (4/57).

Misleading Statements (Shaikh Muhammad Bazmoul)

Misleading Statements

The statement: The Shaikh is affected by the people around him (those who speak to him).

Shaikh Muhammad Bazmoul commented on this statement:

Beware of such a statement oh my brothers, for indeed it is the statement of the people of innovation and desires! I have heard this statement being mentioned concerning the likes of Shaikh Bin Baaz and Shaikh al Albani (may Allah have mercy on them), and I have heard it mentioned about other scholars.

This statement is incorrect in several ways:

1. It is belittlement of the scholar because it indicates that he is not accurate and he accepts anything mentioned to him by his students. The origin of the affair of a scholar is that he is trustworthy and accurate, and therefore this statement is in opposition to this origin. With this being the case, the person who makes such an allegation must present proofs for his claim or it is befitting that his claims is rejected and not accepted.

2. The likes of this statement was forbidden by Allah concerning what was being said about His Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the scholars; those who inherit from the prophets. Allah said in the Qur'an:

{Among them are those who annoy the Prophet and say: He is lending his ear to all news. Say: He listens to what is best for you; he believes in Allah, has faith in the believers, and is a mercy to those of you who believe. But those who annoy Allah's Messenger will have a painful torment.} Surah at Taubah: 61

Imam at Tabari mentioned in his book of Tafseer in explanation to this verse, he said:

Allah is informing that from amongst the hypocrites are groups who seek to annoy the Messenger of Allah (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and reprimand him by saying: He freely lends his ear. He listens to everyone who speaks to him and he accepts and believes their speech….

Shaikh Muhammad Bazmoul further explained:

Consequently, this statement was mentioned by the hypocrites concerning the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and now it is being used by the people of innovation and ignorance to belittle the scholars and abandon their statements and knowledge. By performing this action, they have imitated the action of the hypocrites. Indeed there is no might or change except by the permission of Allah!

3. This statement is used by individuals to refute the statements of the scholars concerning individuals and issues. Indeed this is from the most despicable of affairs. The statement of a scholar is only rejected based on valid, legislated proofs and evidences. Is this statement (the scholar is affected by those around him) considered a valid, legislated proof and evidence?!

4. This statement contains several dangers. From its dangers is that it creates a lack of trust for the scholar concerning his speech and rulings. Certainly the more the people trust the scholar, the more they trust his knowledge.

5. This statement removes and decreases the awe and reverence the students of knowledge have for the scholar.

A Gift to the Muslim Female

A believer is in constant need of reminders, especially during present times, due to widespread trials and tribulations which are endlessly affecting the Ummah. It is because of this that our Generous Lord has informed of that which is of benefit to the Muslim in this life and the next. Allah – The All-Mighty – stated:
وَننَُزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ مَا هُوَ شِفَاءٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
{We reveal in the Qur'an that which is a cure and a mercy for the believers.} Surah Israa:82
And He – The Glorified – also said:
يَا أَيهَُّا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُمْ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
{Oh you who believe, indeed there has come to you an admonishment from your Lord, and a cure for that which is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.} Surah Yunis:57
What should be mentioned is that not only is the Qur'an a cure, but the complete religion of Islam is a cure and mercy for the believers. Based on this, the Prophet Muhammad sallah alahi wasallam said:
أَلاَ إِنِّى أُوتِيتُ الْكِتَابَ وَمِثْلَهُ مَعَه "Indeed I have been given the Qur'an, and that which is similar to it (Sunnah)" Sunan Abi Dawud: 4606
Therefore it's important for a believer to constantly read and ponder over what has been revealed by our Lord in His Glorious Book and likewise what has been revealed by way of the Sunnah of our beloved Messenger Muhammad sallah alahi wasallam. In doing so, one will always receive a beneficial reminder which will – by the permission of Allah – uplift him in this life and the next.
Likewise from the beneficial reminders which are related to eemaan (faith) and its increase is reading what has been mentioned about the lives of the salaf. The scholars of Islam constantly advise the believers to read the stories of those who have proceeded in eemaan in order that a person may profit from their lives which were filled with wonderful examples of their steadfastness upon the religion of Islam. One of the Salaf mentioned:
Stories of the people of the past are from the armies of Allah. He uses them to strengthen the eemaan of His servants who sincerely seek to please Him. It was then said to the person who made this statement: What is your proof for this? He replied: The statement of Allah:
نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ أَنْبَاءِ الرُّسُلِ مَا نثَُبِّتُ بِهِ فُؤَادَكَ ﻛﻼ ﻛ
{Indeed We inform you of the stories of the messengers in order that your heart may become firm.} Surah Hud: 120
(Tareekh Baghdaad vol.3 pg.75)
Shaikh 'Abdul Razzaq bin 'Abdul Muhsin al 'Abaad similarly alluded to this fact in his book titled: Asbaab Ziyadatul Eemaan wa Nuksaanihee – Reasons for Increase and Decrease in Faith. He said:
When a person reflects upon the lives of these magnificent people, and reads their stories and that which they displayed of goodness, and ponders upon their exemplary character and how they followed the generous Messenger sallah alahi wasallam, and how they constantly were observant of their eemaan and how they feared evil and sin, and how they were extremely cautious of showing off and hypocrisy, and their eagerness to perform acts of worship and their competitiveness in performing righteous deed…… this would encourage the reader to truly follow them and it would likewise bring about love of wanting to be similar to them. When one remembers them, he will remember Allah, and reflecting upon their lives will increase a person's eemaan. (Summarized from pg.46)

Certainly from those who are at the forefront of individuals who should be taken as examples after our beloved Prophet sallah alahi wasallam are his companions. They are the individuals whom Allah – The Mighty and Majestic – has praised in more than one verse in His Glorious Book. Allah – The Glorified – stated concerning them:
وَمَنْ يُشَاقِقِ الرَّسُولَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُ الْه دَى وَيَتَّبِعْ غَيْرَ سَبِيلِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ نوَُلِّهِ مَا تَوَلَّى وَنُصْلِهِ جَهَنَّمَ وَسَاءَتْ
مصَ يِرًا
{Whoever opposes the Messenger after the guidance has come to him, and follows a path other than that of the believers, We will leave him in the path which he has chosen, and burn him in the fire. What an evil destination.} Surah al Nisaa: 115
He – The Most High – also mentioned:
1 Arabic Print (Dar al Minhaaj, Riyadh)
{Verily Allah is pleased with the believers when they pledged to you under the tree. He (Allah) knew what was in their hearts, and He sent down calmness upon them, and He rewarded them with a near victory.} Surah al Fath: 18
And many other verses which inform that Allah – The Mighty and Majestic – is pleased with the companions of the Messenger sallah alahi wasallam.
Based on the aforementioned information, it is clear that Allah is pleased with the companions of the Prophet sallah alahi wasallam, and with this being so, why would anyone hesitate to follow them in all forms of good?! No doubt, a true believer is one who takes heed to what elevates his eemaan. Allah – The Most Kind and Generous – stated:
يَا أَيهَُّا الَّذِينَ آمَ نُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَا مُْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ ﻛ
{Oh you who believe, answer the call of Allah and His Messenger when They call you to that which will give you life.} Surah al Anfaal:24
If a believer were to read some of the situations of the companions, including men and women, he would immediately be reminded of how one should implement his religion and remain steadfast upon piety and righteousness. There are numerous examples which display this and it only requires that one spends some time and reads.
From the various examples present in the Sunnah of strong eemaan, and firmness upon the religion is a brief encounter between one of the female companions and the Prophet sallah alahi wasallam. Her name is Asma bint al Yazeed bin al Sakn al Ansariyah, and she was nicknamed: Khateebatun Nisaa – The Female Lecturer, due to her eloquent manner of speech. Asma was the niece of the famous companion and scholar Mua'th bin Jabal and she was well known for her uprightness and sound intellect. She nursed the wounded Muslim fighters during the Battle of al Yarmook and when the fighting became intense, she grabbed an iron spike from her tent and began fighting alongside the Muslim army, killing nine Roman fighters.
Al Hafith Ibn 'Abdul Bar1F1 mentioned concerning her:

It is mentioned that Asma bint al Yazeed approached the Messenger of Allah sallah alahi wasallam and said:
I am a messenger for a group of females. All of them say a similar statement to mine, and they all are in agreement with my opinion. Indeed Allah has sent you to men and women, and we have believed in you and we follow you. We (females) are responsible for tending to the homes and we are the place where men fulfill their desires, in addition to carrying their children (during pregnancy). But the men are preferred over us due to the merits gained for attending the Friday congregational prayer, attending burial procedures and also fighting in the way of Allah. If they leave their homes, we protect their wealth and we also raise their children. (With this being the case) do we take part in their tremendous reward, oh Messenger of Allah sallah alahi wasallam?
Upon hearing this, the Prophet sallah alahi wasallam turned toward his male companions and said:
Have you ever heard a female inquiring about her religion in a better manner than this female?
The companions replied: Indeed we have not, oh Messenger of Allah sallah alahi wasallam!
The Prophet sallah alahi wasallam then replied to her: Return oh Asma, and inform the group of females that being a good wife to your husband, exerting yourself to please him, and have him pleased with you is equivalent (in reward) to all of what you have mentioned concerning the men!
Asma walked away saying: La illaha ilAllah, Allahu Akbar, do to the extreme joy she felt after hearing the Prophet's sallah alahi wasallam reply.
Several benefits are derived from this hadeeth, from them:
1. The great eagerness of the female companions to learn their religion. They did not allow questions and doubts to remain unanswered. This is also illustrated in the statement of 'Aaisha when she said:
نِعْمَ النِّسَاءُ نِسَاءُ الأَنْصَارِ لَمْ يَمْنَعْهُنَّ الْحَيَاءُ أَنْ يَتَفَقَّهْنَ فِي الدِّينِ
How great are the Ansar women! They did not allow shyness to prevent them from learning their religion. (Sahih al Bukhari: 129)
2. The permissibility of a female speaking to a person of knowledge even while in the company of other men if need be. The female should of course make sure she does not speak in an attractive manner. Allah – The Most High – said:
فَ تَخْضَعْنَ بِالْقَوْلِ فَيَطْمَعَ الَّذِي فِي قَلْبِهِ مَرَضٌ وَقُلْنَ قَوْلًا مَعْرُوفًا ﻼ
{And do not be soft in speech, lest he in whose heart is a disease should be moved with desire. But instead, speak in an honorable manner.} Surah al Ahzaab:32
3. This hadeeth is an example of how the women during the time of the Messenger sallah alahi wasallam gathered to discuss matters of their religion. This undeniably is a lesson for present day Muslim females. They should make their meetings with their sisters the type of gatherings which contain profit and benefit, not that which contains evil and harm.
4. This encounter displays the tremendous mercy of our beloved Messenger sallah alahi wasallam. He did not interrupt Asma, nor did he scorn her for asking such a question, but rather he acted exactly how Allah described him in the Qur'an:
وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلَّا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ
{We have only sent you as a mercy to the worlds.} Surah al Anbiyah: 107
And He – The Most High – said:
لَقَدْ جَاءَ مُْ رَسُولٌ مِنْ أَنْفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيهِْ مَا عَنِتُّمْ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيكُْمْ بِالمُْؤْمِنِينَ رءَُوفٌ رحَِيمٌ ﻛ
{Indeed there has come to you a Messenger from amongst yourselves. It grieves him that anything should harm you, and he is anxious over you. He is kind and merciful to the believers.} Surah al Tawbah: 128
5. This story informs how a believer should react after hearing pleasing news. Asma immediately remembered Allah, glorifying and praising Him due to the tremendous news which she received from the Messenger of Allah sallah alahi wasallam.
6. It also shows her strong eemaan in the promise of Allah. She understood that Allah is All Just, and that He would never allow injustice. She truly believed the statements of Allah:
أَلَا إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَكِنَّ أَ ثَْرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﻛ
{Indeed the promise of Allah is true, but most do not know.} Surah Yunis: 55
And His statement:
Be patient, for indeed the promise of Allah is true.} Surah al Room: 60
And His statement:
{Oh mankind, indeed the promise of Allah is true, so do not be deceived by the life of this world and do not allow anyone to deceive you.} Surah al Faatir: 5
Asma, like any and every Muslim female was afflicted with tremendous difficulties and tribulations, but she was able to overlook that which befell her by keeping the goal in mind!3F1
7. This narration is a response to those who claim that women were created no different from men, and therefore they should be allowed to do everything a man does. Unfortunately many Muslim females hold this view due to the fact that it has been instilled in the minds of our women by means of various forms of propagation and education throughout the Western society.
This narration indicates that Allah created the female distinct from the male, and He has assigned her with different duties which are for the benefit of herself, the family and the overall society. It is upon her to act within the limits which Allah – The All Mighty – has legislated, and if she does so in a manner pleasing to Him, she will enter an everlasting paradise. But if, on the other hand, she seeks to exceed the limits which Allah has legislated, she will damage herself, her family and the Muslim society as a whole! Allah – The Sublime – stated:
أَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَنْ خَلَقَ وَهُوَ اللَّطِيفُ الْخَبِيرُ
{Does not the One Who created you know. And He is the Most Kind, the All Aware.} Surah al Mulk: 14
And He stated:
{Are you more knowledgeable or is Allah.} Surah al Baqarah: 140
Without a doubt many more benefits can be derived from the narration of Asma bint al Yazeed. These were only a few which we felt the need to mention.[3]
In Conclusion:
This short narration is a great encouragement for our Muslim sisters. We all are aware of what occurs in the daily life of a Muslim female within the home, and outside of it. She is afflicted like no other person, as was indicated by Asma in the above narration, but what should be kept in mind is the statement of the Prophet sallah alahi wasallam:
إن عظم الجزاء مع عظم الب ء وإن الله إذا أحب قوما ابت هم ﻼ ﻼ
"Indeed the greatness of reward is according to the greatness of the trial, and when Allah loves a person, He tests him." (Tirmidhi: 2396)
We ask Allah to increase us in eemaan and taqwa, and we ask Him to grant us success to perform actions which are pleasing to Him.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger of Allah, and upon his family members and companions.

2 Al Esti'aab vol.4 pg.233
3 We are not referring to clear, unjust oppression which takes place in some Muslim families. Indeed Allah has forbidden such oppression (harsh beating, cursing, etc) and any female who is afflicted with this has every right to seek separation after repeated advice and consultation has failed.

O sisters, Upon us is have mercy upon ourselves

Umm 'Abdillaah Al Waadi'iyyah Bint Ash Shaykh Muqbil bin Haadee
(rahmatullaahi 'alaihi) said after the opening du'aa,

"O sisters, Upon us is have mercy upon ourselves. Save yourself from the
Fire. There is no way out for anyone from the Fitna that we are in now, except by sticking to what the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) came
with."

Hadeeth of Abu Najeeh Al 'Irbaad bin Sariyyah' (radhiyallaahu 'anhu): The
Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) admonished us with an intense sermon which caused our hearts to tremble, and the eyes to shed tears. So,we said, Yaa Rasoolullaah (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) this is as if it
were your last sermon. (Aboo Daawood and others declared it Saheeh).

"There is no way out for anybody except by sticking to the Sunnah which the
Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) came with. This holding requires
submission, a complete submission. As believers, it is a must on us. We
have to say regarding any command from Allaah Ta 'Aalaa, and HIS Messenger
(sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam), "Sami'naa wa ata'naa," (We hear and we
obey), and not like the Yahood (Jews) who said, "We hear and we disobey."
It is not befitting for the believing man nor the believing woman, when the
Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) comes with a decision, that they
have a choice after the Prophet."

"O sisters, the truth is very heavy. Falsehood is light (easy to accept).
It is very heavy, except with those whom Allaah made it easy for, and
guided them for that."

Hadeeth: Jannah is surrounded by undesirable things. The Fire is
surrounded by desires.

"O sisters, it is upon us that we get used to submitting to Allaah." Umm
'Abdillaah (hafidhahallaah) mentioned a poem:

"Your nafs are always wanting if you make it a habit. If you control and
limit yourself, that is what your nafs will get used to."

"Do not say 'why' to the command of Allaah." Umm 'Abdillaah
(hafidhahallaah), gave the example of Salaat. She said, "Pray and get used
to it. We are commanded to Fast, so you must Fast, make Hajj and 'Umrah.
HE, Ta 'Aalaa, has made certain things compulsory towards the husband and
we do not say why."

"O sisters, it is up to us to preserve our tongue, especially because the
Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) told us the reason why women are
the majority in the Hell Fire. Be more careful than men. Women curse a
lot and have many complaints. It is not a good habit to complain to this
sister, that sister, to this one, and that one. Guard your tongue!"

Gheebah: It is to say something behind the back of your brother, that which
he would not like to have been said, even if it is true, and if it is not
true, then you have slandered him.

"When the believing woman leaves her home, she wears Hijaab, and she leaves
the home properly."

Allaah Ta 'Aalaa said:

‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎
‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎
‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎ ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎
Translated to mean: And Stay in your houses, and do not display yourselves
like that of the times of ignorance, and perform As-Salaat (Iqamaat‎us ‎
Salaat), and give Zakaat and obey Allaah and His Messenger. Allaah wishes
only to remove Ar‎ Rijs (evil deeds and sins, etc.) from you, O members of
the family (of the Prophet), and to purify you with a thorough
purification. 33/33

"Allaah has made it waajib upon us to preserve our ears, and to avoid
listening to songs, Gheebah, and Nameemah. Allaah created us for
'Eebaadah. The Dunyaa is temporary and attractive. The Prophet
(sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) warned against submitting to the Dunyaa."

Ham: All that you think of, and focus on.

"The one whose Ham is the Dunyaa, Allaah will scatter from him, it could be
from his family, his money, etc. All that he will see is poverty. The
person will not attain anything more than what is written for him. Whoever
focuses on the Aakhirah, all your needs will be brought near, and made easy
for you. The believing heart is rich, even if the believer is poor. The
World will come to you, it is forced to you."

Hadeeth Qudsi: The Prophet (sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said that Allaah
Subhaanahu Wa Ta'Aalaa said, "O children of Aadam ('alaihis salaam), if you
rush into worship, I will fill your hearts with Rizq (provision). Do not
neglect, (be alert). If you neglect, I will fill your hands with poverty
and things that will make you busy."

"Allaah condemned the people who are filled with the Dunyaa. Be careful,
and aware of submitting to the Dunyaa. Sit with As Saalihaat (the pious
women), it has a lot of affects. Go back to submitting to Allaah so that
you will be from Ahlul Jannah. Stick to The Book (The Qur'aan). Seek 'ilm
of the Islaamic Law. Try to understand the Book of Allaah, it is the best
way to come close to HIM. Be eager and anxious in seeking 'ilm. Be
careful, do not do a deed until you know whether or not it is Halaal or
Haraam. Do not rush into it until you know."

Humor of Shaykh Uthaymeen Rahimahullaah

Questioner: Shaykh, may Allaah reward you with Paradise. I see in my dreams as if I am sitting in your class. I have certain questions, so I ask you and you give me the answers. What is the ruling with regards to those answers? Shaykh Uthaymeen: I don’t remember this. I don’t remember this. I don’t notice in my sleep that you are asking me anything! No don’t depend on this. If you listen to a tape, that’s fine. But we don’t give lessons to those who are sleeping!
Questioner: With reference to the Hadeeth, there is no competition except in, shooting arrows, foot-racing or horse-racing, what is your opinion if someone engages in Rooster-racing or Pigeon-racing?
Shaykh Uthaymeen: Look, the Prophet (salallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: there is no competition except in shooting arrows, foot-racing, or horse racing – because these things are to be used in war! Because of this benefit, it is allowed. If your rooster is used in war so that you ride on it, then it is allowed! Otherwise not.
Questioner: Is it allowed for me to buy a rooster so that when it crows, I ask Allaah of His bounty?(1)
Shaykh Uthaymeen: I don’t know about this. Is it ordained for a person that when he hears the crowing of a rooster, that he asks Allaah of His bounty? So the question is: “Is it allowed for me to buy a rooster so that when it crows, I ask Allaah of His bounty?” But I am afraid that your rooster will be silent! No, this is not narrated from the Salaf. And all praise is due to Allaah. You ask Allaah for His bounty whether you hear the rooster or not. Ask of His bounty always.
Questioner: What is the ruling on killing an insect in the Haram?
Shaykh: Which?
Questioner: Killing an insect in the Haram.
Shaykh: Like what?
Questioner: Like anything harmful!
Shaykh: Like what?
Questioner: Like a bird!
Shaykh: Birds! Pigeons? The questioner asked about the ruling on killing insects in the Haram (Mecca). And he wanted an example, but he was unable to answer. And he said Birds! Hmm..
Questioner: Anything!
Shaykh: Anything? Even killing humans?
Questioner: Humans?
Shaykh: You said anything!
Questioner: Killing insects!
Shaykh: Like what!
Questioner: Those in the Haram…like ants!
Shaykh: Ants? I have never seen an ant in the Haram!
Questioner: I want the ruling!
Shaykh: Now look – you just taught us that pigeons are insects!!
Questioner: I have an example!
Shaykh: Which is? A mosquito?
Questioner: Yes a mosquito..
Shaykh: Good.
Footnotes:
1) The questioner asked a slightly different question but the shaykh answered the question in the video.

The Reward for Khushoo' and Beautification of the Prayer

Author: Hussain al-Awaa'ishah
Source: As-Salaat Wa Atharuhaa (trans. Abu Iyaad 1995)

Uqbah bin Aamir (ra) said: The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "There is no person who performs wudhoo, beautifying his wudhoo, then prays two rakahs concentrating therein with this heart and face except Paradise becomes obligatory for him."[1]

Zaid bin Khaalid al-Juhnee (ra) said: The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "Whoever performed wudhoo and beautified the wudhoo, then prayed two rakahs, not being forgetful in them all his previous sins will be forgiven."[2]

Humraan, the servant of Uthmaan bin Affaan (ra) said: I saw Uthmaan bin Affaan (ra) call for wudhoo (i.e. a container of water). He poured water over his hands and washed them three times. Then he put his right hand into the container and rinsed his mouth, and washed his nose by putting water in it and then blew the water out. Then he washed his face and forearms up to the elbows three times, passed his wet hands over his head and washed his feet up to the ankles three times. Then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) perform wudhoo like this wudhoo of mine and then he (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) said: "If anyone performs wudhoo like this wudhoo then prays two rakahs, without conversing with his soul (i.e. not thinking of anything else) all his past sins will be forgiven."[3]

Abu Dardaa (ra) said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) say: "Whoever performs ablution and beautifies it, then stands and prays two rakahs - or four, Sahl (a subnarrator) is not sure - beautifying them with dhikr and khushoo and then seeks forgivesness from Allaah, will be forgiven."[4]

And at the end of the hadeeth of Amr bin Asabah (ra): "... If he stands and prays, praises Allaah, glorifies Him, extolls Him with that which He is worthy of and empties his heart for Allaah the Exalted alone, he will depart from his sins in the same condition as the day his mother gave birth to him."[5]

Jaabir (ra) said: I asked the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alaihi wasallam) about wiping the pebbles during prayer. He said: "Only once, but if you withold from doing that it is better for you than a hundred black-eyed she-camels."[6]

Does the Sun revolve around the earth?

http://www.salafitalk.net/st/viewmessages.cfm?Forum=6&Topic=6338

Extracted from Al Uthaimeens Faatawaa Arkaan-Ul-Islaam Pages 67-72, Darussalam Translation.

Question: Does the Sun revolve around the earth?

It is apparent from the Islamic evidences that they confirm that it is the sun which revolves around the earth, and by its revolving the alternation of night and day takes place on the surface of the earth. It is not for us to exceed the apparent meaning of these evidences without some evidence stronger than that, which permits us to explain them differently from their apparent meaning. (Meaning we cant interpret metaphorically)

Among the proofs that the sun revolves around the earth in a manner which causes the alternation of the night and day are the following:

Allah, the Most High says, that when Ibrahim, peace be upon him, disputed with the one who argued with him concerning his Lord:

Verily, Allah bring the sun from the east; then bring it you from the west. Al-Baqarah 2:259

He also tells us that Ibrahim, peace be upon him said:

When he saw the sun rising up, he said: This is my lord. This is greater. But when it set, he said: O my people! I am indeed free from all that you join as partner (in worship with Allah). Al-Anam 6:78

Allah the most High says:

And you might have seen the sun, when it rose, declining to the right from their Cave, and when it set, turning away from them to the left. Al-Kahf 18:17

Allah, the Most High says:

And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating. Al-Anbiya 21:33

And Allah, the Most High says:

He brings the nigh as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly. Al-Araf 7:54

Allah the Most high says:

He has created the heavens and the earth with truth. He makes the night to go in the day and makes the day to go in the night. And he has subjected the sun and the moon. Each running (on a fixed course) for an appointed term. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the OftForgiving. Az-Zumar 39:5

And His Words: “He makes the night to go in the day.

That is it turns around it, as a turban is wrapped around, which proves the revolving of the night and the day around the eary. If it were the earth which revolved around them, He would have said: He cause the earth to revolve around the night and day.

And in His Words:

the sun and the moon, each running (on a fixed course).

It is clear from what precedes is that it is a proof that the sun and the moon move in a perceptible orbit, because subjecting something which moves to its movement is more apparent than subjecting something stationary which does not move.

Allah, the Most High says:

By the sun and its brightness. By the moon as it follows it (the sun). Ash-Shams 91:1-2

And the meaning of follows it.

Is that it comes after it and this is a proof of their moving and revolving around the earth, for if it were the earth which revolved around them, the moon would not be following the sun; rather it would sometimes be following it and sometimes it would be followed by it because the sun is higher than it. And deduction from this Verse requires study and reflection.

Allah the most High says: And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old drid curved date statlk. It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. Ya-Seen 36:38-40

So, attributing the movement to the sun and describing it as a Decree from the Almighty, Most Wise proves that it is a real movement with a far-reaching Decree, since the consequence of it is the alternation of the night and day and the seasons.

The Measures of the moons mansion (i.e. stations) is a proof that it traverses them, for if it was the earth which revolves, the measuring of the mansions would be for the earths movement around the moon and not for the moons movement around it.

And negating the suns ability to overtake the moon, and the nights ability to outstrip the day are evidence of the rushing movement on the part of the sun and the moon, and the night and the day.

The Prophet (Sallah Allahu Alyhe wa Sallam) said to Abu Tharr, May Allah be please with him, when the sun had just set:
Do you know where it goes?

He said, Allah and His Messenger know best. He said:

Verily, it goes (i.e. travels) and it prostrates beneath the Throne and seeks permission to rise, and permission is granted to it. Then (a time will come when) it will be about to prostrate itself but its prostration will not be accepted, and it will ask permission to go on its course but it will not be permitted, but it will be ordered: Return from whence you came, and so it will rise in the west. [Reported in Al-Bukhari in the Book of the Beginning of Creation, in the Chapter: Description of the Sun and Moon (3199) and by Muslim in the Book of Faith, in the Chapter: Explanation of the Time When Faith Will not be Accepted (150).]

So and it is extremely clear from his words: Return from whence you came that it revolves around the earth and through its revolving the sunrise and sunset occur.

It is clear from the many Ahadith which attribute rising, setting, and declining from its zenith to the sun, that it is the sun which does so and not the earth.

There are most probably other proofs that are not present with me at the moment, but what I have mentioned is a summary of the subject, and it is sufficient for my purpose. And Allah is the granter of success.

Shyness is of two types

Source: My Advice to the Women - Umm Abdillah al-Waadi'iyyah - pgs 253-259

Shyness is of two types:

1. What consists of character and disposition and cannot be acquired. Shyness is the behavior Allah granted the servant. The Prophet sallallahu alayhe was salaam said " Shyness brings about nothing but good." It prohibits a person from committing despicable actions and displaying degrading behavior.

2.What is attainable through knowing Allah and knowing His greatness as well as His closeness to His servants. His overseeing them, and His knowledge of what deceives the eyes while being hidden in the chests.

Small sins

Anas (Raliyyalaah anh) said: “You indulge in (bad) actions which are more insignificant to you than a hair while we considered them at the time of Messenger of Allah sallalaah alahi wasallam to be great destroying sins.”

(Bukhari)

Commentary: The less fear of Allah, one has the more disobedient he becomes to Him. As the fear of Allah decreases, one becomes more bold in committing sins. As the Companions of the Prophet sallah alahi wassalam were intensely fearful of Allah, they were afraid of committing even very minor sins.

A Woman’s Strong Determination to Repent

It was reported on the authority of Hassan Al Basree (Rahimahullah), who was one of the scholars from the Ta’bieen:

There was a prostitute who had a third of the beauty of Adam (Alaihis salam). She would not allow anyone to have sexual relations with her unless it was for 100 dinars. There was a slave boy who saw her one day and her beauty amazed him so much that he went and worked and toiled with his own two hands until he collected 100 dinars. So he went to her and said: “Your beauty amazed me so much that I went and worked and toiled with my own two hands and immediately collected 100 dinars!” So she said to him: “Enter!” So he entered and to his amazement she had a bed made of gold. He said: “So I sat on her bed and she said to me: “Come on!” So when he sat between her legs he remembered his standing in front of Allah!! His heart began to tremble and quiver and he said to her: “Let me leave and you can keep the money!!” She said to him: “What is wrong with you?! You were the one who said that you saw me and my beauty amazed you so you worked and toiled hard and quickly with your bare hands until you collected 100 dinars and now that you have the ability to take what is rightfully yours this is what you do?!!! “

So he said: “I am afraid of Allah and my standing in front of Him! I was once the most hated person to you (because he was a poor slave) and now you are the most hated person to me!” (because he now realizes the sin she is allowing him to commit) So she said: “If you are honest in what you say, then you are the only husband for me!” So he said: “Let me leave!” So she said: “No! Not until you marry me?!” So he said: “No! Not until you allow me to leave!” So she said: “If you leave and I go out in search of you, do you promise that if I find you, you will marry me?” So he said: “Perhaps!” So she let his garment go, he left and returned to his city. She set out in search of him remorseful and repentant for what she had done until she found the city where he resided. She asked around town about his whereabouts and she was directed towards where he lived. So someone said to him in passing:

إن الملكة قد جاء!
“The queen has come!” (He said this because her clothing and demeanor spoke that of a queen)

So when he saw her he cried so profusely and began to gag and gasp for air (as he never expected to see her again and now to his amazement, believed that she was a queen!) and he died while falling into her arms! So she said:

“As for him, I have lost this one! Does he have any relatives?

So it was said to her:
له أخ فقير!
“He has a brother but he is poor!”

So she said with all candor and sincerity:

فأتزوجه حبا لأخيه!
“Thus I will marry him because of my love for his brother!!” (keep in mind they still believe that she is the queen!)

So she married him.

Translator’s Note: This narration is taken from a book called Hilyat ul Awliyaa by Abu Nu’aim Al Asbahani (Rahimahullah) and it is a book filled with narrations about amazing events during the time of the Salaf. Some of these narrations may not be authentic or we may not know the authenticity of them, however the scholars use them in the realm of what is called At Targheeb wat Tarheeb (i.e. encouragement (to be obedient to Allah) and discouragement (from disobedience to Allah) and they have stipulated 4 conditions for using these narrations and I will provide them below for the reader’s clarification:

The First: The narration can not be used to establish and/or substantiate a legislative Islamic ruling. As the Islamic rulings in Islam are established and/or supported by authentic unequivocal and concrete texts from the Qur’an, Authentic Sunnah and the Ijma’a (i.e. Consensus) of the Sahabah and the Salaf us Salih (i.e. Righteous Predecessors)

The Second: The narration can not be attributed to the Prophet (Sallahu alaihi wa salam) or the narrator unless the Isnad (i.e. chain of narrators) is affirmed by those scholars who are proficient in that respective field. So thats why the scholars will say when narrating these types of narrations “It was reported….” Or “it was mentioned about…” but they will never say such and such said.

The Third: The class of the narration has to be clarified when quoted so as not to mislead the reader and/or listener to believe that it is authentic if it is not authentic.

The Fourth: It can only be used in the realm of what the scholars call At Targheeb wat Tarheeb, as it was mentioned before.

Islam Is Free From Extremism - Shayk

13 October 2010

Our call

Who are we?

[1]: We believe in Allah and His Names and Attributes, as they were mentioned in the Book of Allah and in the Sunnah of the Messenger of (Allah Sallalahu alaihi wa Sallam), without tahreef (distortion), nor ta‘weel (figurative interpretation), nor tamtheel (making a likeness), nor tashbeehta’teel (denial). (resemblance), nor

[2]: We love the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (Sallalahu alaihi wa Sallam), and we hate those who speak against them. We believe that to speak ill of them is to speak ill of the Religion, because they are the ones who conveyed it to us. And we love the Family of the Prophet with love that is permitted by the Sharee’ah.

[3]: We love the People of Hadeeth and all of the Salaf of the Ummah from Ahlus-Sunnah.

[4]: We despise ’ilmul-kalaam (knowledge of theological rhetoric), and we view it to be from amongst the greatest reasons for the division in the Ummah.

[5]: We do not accept anything from the books of Fiqh (jurisprudence), nor from the books of Tafsir (explanation of the Qur’an), nor from the ancient stories, nor from the Seerah (biography) of the Prophet, except that which has been confirmed from Allah or from His Messenger. We do not mean that we have rejected them, nor do we claim that we are not in need of them. Rather, we benefit from the discoveries of our Scholars and the jurists and other than them. However, we do not accept a ruling, except with an authentic proof.

[6]: We do not write in our books, nor do we cover in our lessons, nor do we give sermons with anything except the Qur’an, or the authentic and authoritative hadeeth. And we detest what emanates from many books and admonishers in terms of false stories and weak and fabricated Ahadith.

[7]: We do not perform Takfeer (expel one from Islaam) upon any Muslim due to any sin, except Shirk (polytheism) with Allah, or the abandonment of Prayer, or apostasy. We seek refuge in Allah from that.

[8]: We believe that the Qur’an is the Speech of Allah, it is not created.

[9]: We hold that our ‘obligation is to co-operate with the group that traverses the methodology of the Book and the Sunnah, and what the Salaf of the Ummah were upon; in terms of calling to Allah the Glorified, and being sincere in worship of Him, and warning from Shirk, innovations, and disobedience, and to advise all of the groups that oppose this.’ ‘So co-operating upon righteousness and piety (taqwaa) and mutual advising necessitates warning against evil and not co-operating with the wicked.’

[10]: We do not deem it correct to revolt against the Muslim rulers as long as they are Muslims, nor do we feel that revolutions bring about reconciliation. Rather, they corrupt the community.

[11]: We hold that this multiplicity of present day parties is a reason for the division of the Muslims and their weakness. So therefore, we set about ‘freeing the minds from the fetters of blind-following and the darkness of sectarianism and party spirit.’

[12]: We restrict our understanding of the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the → Messenger of Allah r to the understanding of the Salaf of the Ummah from the Scholars of hadeeth, not the blind-followers of their individuals. Rather, we take the truth from wherever it comes. And we know that there are those who claim Salafiyyah, yet Salafiyyah is free from them, since they bring to the society what Allâah has prohibited. We believe in ‘cultivating the young generation upon this Islaam, purified from all that we have mentioned, giving to them a correct Islâmic education from the start – without any influence from the disbelieving western education.’

[13]: We believe that politics is a part of the Religion, and those who try to separate the Religion from politics are only attempting to destroy the Religion and to spread chaos.

[14]: We believe that there will be no honor or victory for the Muslims until they return to the Book of Allah and to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.

[15]: We oppose those who divide the Religion into trivialities and important issues. And we know that this is a destructive Daw’ah.

[16]: We oppose those who put down the knowledge of the Sunnah, and say that this is not the time for it. Likewise, we oppose those who put down acting upon the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah.

[17]: Our Daw’ah and our ’Aqeedah is more beloved to us than our own selves, our wealth and our offspring. So we are not prepared to part with it for gold nor silver. We say this so that no one may have hope in buying out our Daw’ah, nor should he think that it is possible for him to purchase it from us for deenaar or dirham.

[18]: We love the present day Scholars of the Sunnah and hope to benefit from them and regret the passing away of many of them.

[19]: We do not accept a Fatwaa except from the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah. These are glimpses into our ’Aqeedah and our Daw’ah. So if one has any objection to this, then we are prepared to accept advice if it is truthful, and to refute it if it is erroneous, and to avoid it if it is stubborn rejection. And Allâah knows best.

The Soul that Greatly Commands Evil

by Shaikh Abdur-Razzaq Al-Abaad

Taken from Causes Behind the Increase and Decrease of Eemaan pg.109-111

This is a condemned soul, which Allaah placed inside the individual. It orders him with every evil, invites him to all perils and guides him to every vulgarity.

This is its nature and that is its trait, except for the soul that Allaah grants tawfeeq and which He makes firm and assists. None has been saved from the evil of his soul except by the tawfeeq of Allaah, as Allaah says relating from the wife of al-Azeez:

"And I free not myself (from the blame). Verily, the soul does indeed incline greatly to evil, except when my Lord bestows His Mercy (upon whom He wills). Verily, my Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Soorah Yoosuf 12:53)

Allaah says:

".....And had it not been for the Grace of Allaah and His Mercy on you, not one of you would ever have been pure..." (Soorah an-Noor 24:21)

Allaah also says to the most honorable and beloved creation to Him:

"And had We not made you stand firm, you would nearly have inclined to them a little." (Soorah al-Israa 17:74)

Furthermore, the Prophet (sallallaahu alaiyhi wa salam) used to teach them (i.e.., the people) the 'Speech of Need' (Khutbah al-Haajah): " All praise is for Allaah; we praise Him, seek His aid and forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allaah from the evil of our souls and from the wickedness of our actions. Whosoever Allaah guides, then none can misguide him and whosoever Allaah misguides, then none can guide him..." (related by Aboo Daawood)

Thus, evil is concealed within the soul and it necessitates actions of evil. If Allaah lets the servant have his own way with his soul, he will perish at the evil of his soul and the evil actions that it sanctions. If Allaah on the other hand, grants the servent tawfeeq and assists him, he will deliver him from all of this.

Allaah has made in contrast to this soul, a soul that is content. If the soul that constantly commands evil urges the servant with something, the content soul prohibits him from it. The person at times obeys this soul, and at other times obeys the other; he himself is one of the two that is prevalent over him.

Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him, states: "Allaah has assembled two souls: a soul that greatly orders evil and a soul that is content, and they are hostile towards one another. Whenever one diminishes, the other strengthens. Whenever one takes pleasure in something the other suffers pain as a result of it. Nothing is more difficult for the soul that constantly encourages evil than performing deeds for Allaah and preferring His pleasure to its own desire and there is nothing more beneficial to it than Allaah. Likewise, there is nothing more difficult upon the content soul than performing deed for other than Allaah and that which the incentives of desire bring about, and there is nothing more harmful to it than desire.... and the war is continuous, it cannot come to an end until it completes its appointed time from this world."

Hence, there is nothing more harmful to a person's eemaan and religion than his soul that constantly commands evil, whose standing and description is such. It is a primary reason and effective and active constituent that weakens eemaan, unsettles it and impairs it.

As such, it becomes imperative for the one who seeks to safeguard his eemaan from diminution and weakness to tend to the matter of calling his soul to account, admonishing it and to increase in censuring it, so that he can deliver himself from its adverse and devastating consequences and ends.

Proper Manner in Answering the Phone

Bismillah

What follows is beneficial knowledge from AshShaykh Al’Allaamah AlAlbaanee (rahimahullaah) transmitted by way of his student Saalih bin Taha Abu Islaam in his book entitled, (what translated means) Al’aqeedah first, if they but only knew (Vol 1, pgs. 16-17), wherein he (Abu Islaam) said,
“He called me rahimahullaah (meaning AshShaykh AlAlbaanee) one day by telephone, but I was not there. My young daughter, upon answering the telephone, said, “Assalaamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullaah”. The Shaykh asked for me and then said to her, “Inform your father that Muhammad Naasiriddeen AlAlbaanee called”. (He did not say ‘AshShaykh’ . . . and this is from his humbleness, may Allaah raise his rank in Aljannah)”.

Harshness upon the People of Innovations

Shaikh Rabee' bin Hadee 'Umayr Al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah) was asked the following question after a recent lecture he delivered in Masjid Al-Qiblatayn, Medinah.

Question: A novel way of putting people off the scholars has appeared, which is to categorize the scholars into those who are harsh and those who are lenient (tolerant), and sometimes [the people who claim this] say the scholars of one region are harsh and those of another are tolerant. What is your guidance on this?

Answer by Shaikh Rabee' bin Hadee 'Umayr Al-Madkhalee (hafidhahullaah):

This is one of the methods of the enemies of the Salafi Manhaj. Amongst the Salaf there were those who were lenient but they never used to hold it against each other. Rather, they used to respect those who were harsh against the followers of falsehood. You have [for example] Hammaad bin Salamah (rahimahullaah). Imam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) used to praise him greatly and suspect the religion of anyone who spoke against him [saying],

quote:
Whoever speaks against Hammaad bin Salamah, then suspect his religion because he [Hammaad bin Salamah] was harsh against the People of Bid'ah.

Being harsh against the people of falsehood used to be a virtue according to the Salaf. But since the People of Bid'ah and misguidance have come and taken over the minds of many of the youth, very regrettably, being harsh against the people of falsehood has become a "vice and a defect," and being relaxed and flexible [with them] has become a "distinction and an honorable trait."

[You must] adhere to the Salafi Manhaj and take the Salafi position towards the People of Bid'ah. It is not wrong to call them to Allaah wisely and through good exhortation. If they respond, thanks and praise are for Allaah. If they do not, there is no wrong in being harsh against them and...

The Salaf were harsh against them, and [in some cases] ordered some of them to be executed... [The Salaf] wrote many works [in refutation of them]. What do you say about them? Read Al-Sharee'ah of Al-Ajurree, read Al-Sunnah of 'Abdullah bin Ahmad, read Al-Sunnah of Al-Khallaal. Those [who decry being harsh towards the people of falsehood] have not read these works, they have not read these works and seen the position taken by the Salaf towards the People of Bid'ah and deviation.

What should our stance be towards the Jahmiyah, what should our stance be towards the Raafidah and what should our stance be towards their followers and supporters? Many who associate themselves with the Salafi Manhaj got influenced by these currents and became compromised and began to fight against the callers to truth and the Sunnah [by accusing them of being] "harsh."

I have written [refutations], and I am the harshest one. I wrote during the time of Ibn Baaz, Al-Albaanee and Al-'Uthaymeen. I refuted the Ikhwaan Al-Muslimoon (the Muslim "Brotherhood"), Al-Tableegh (Tablighi Fircat) and all the People of Bid'ah and those scholars supported these writings and supported Rabee'. None of them opposed him and none of them said... Al-Albaanee said a statement praising Rabee', "[Shaikh Rabee'] is the bearer of the standard of Jarh and Ta'deel in this era." Hmm, what do you think about this? Then [Al-Albaanee] said [Rabee'] has some harshness in him. These compromisers rejoiced and flew with the quote [spreading it everywhere]. I contacted Shaykh Al-Albaanee and said, "Why o Shaikh do you accuse me of being harsh?" He said, "By Allaah this is what I personally think." I said, "O Shaikh, this harms the Salafi Da'wah and it harms me." So the Shaykh apologized - rahimahullah. Shortly afterwards, I sent him [my book] Al-'Awaasim mimmaa fee Kutub Sayed Qutb min Al-Qawaasim, which is the harshest book I have written. [Shaykh Al-Albaanee] read it and supported it because it was the truth, and said, 'You have spoken the truth, so continue and do more o Shaykh Rabee',' or words to that effect - rahimahullaah.

Ibn Baaz never... He used to say, "Refute the People of Bid'ah with wisdom and good exhortation." He never used to oppose me, and by Allaah he wrote to me saying, "It has reached me that you have refuted Al-Mawdoodee - rahimahullaah - and I hope you can send me a copy of this refutation." He never used to object. Shaikh Al-Tuwayjiree used to refute and refute harshly the People of Bid'ah, and Shaikh Ibn Baaz used to support him and recommend his books. Hmm, he never once said - and [Shaykh Al-Tuwayjiree also] used to refute Al-Albaanee - may Allaah bless you... Shaikh Ibn Baaz never silenced him, he would never say to him, 'be silent,' he would never say, 'you are harsh,' may Allaah bless you. Al-Fawzaan used to refute the People of Bid'ah during the time of Shaykh Ibn Baaz, and he never said, 'be silent,' may Allaah bless you. Rather he would support him... There are so many writings [Shaykh Ibn Baaz] recommended of Shaykh Al-Tuwayjiree and he praised my books and my methodology (manhaj) - rahimahullaah. All of these Mashaaikh used to be supportive.

This is the manhaj in which we have become weak. We are not on the same level as we used to be during their time; rather we have become weak but despite this they say we are "harsh," and they say Ibn Baaz [was not like you]. By Allaah, Ibn Baaz used to fight the People of Bid'ah and support those who fought them and praise those who fought them - may Allaah bless you. Bring me one proof that Ibn Baaz silenced one person who refuted the People of Bid'ah. Did he silence Al-Fawzaan? Did he silence Al-Tuwayjiree? Did he silence Rabee'? Did he silence Al-Albaanee? Not one of them. Likewise, all the scholars used to support and aid those who speak the word of truth and refute what is wrong....
